More changes in the Welsh rugby set up.
Martin Williams, the former Welsh rugby captain and 3 times British & Irish lions tourist, has been officially named as the new National team manager. The 44yr old openside flanker who won 100 caps for his country, who retired in 2012, will take over from Alan Phillips from 1st January 2020.
Phillips leaves the WRU after nearly 18 years in the role. He has been part of the set up for more than 220 Test matches and five World Cups. The former Wales hooker has worked alongside the likes of Graham Henry, Steve Hansen, Gareth Jenkins and Warren Gatland. As part of his role he helped Wales clinch four Grand Slams and a further Six Nations title!
Martin Williams isn't the only former captain to join the new structure under Wayne Pivac. Former captain Sam Warburton has also been added as a technical advisor, while Stephen Jones and Jonathan Humphreys are among Pivac's assistant coaches.
