Sometimes it's OK not to be OK. I'm always here to talk

SOMETIMES IT'S OK NOT TO BE OK

It's been 8yrs since Gary Speed took his own life. An inquest determined that the cause of death had been suicide. At the time of his suicide, Speed was in charge of the senior Wales side, having made 85 appearances for his country. He was said to be suffering from depression as well as struggling with the pressures of managing the Wales football team.

Speed, who starred in the Premier League with Everton, Leeds United and Newcastle, killed himself in 2011 aged just 42!!

Speed was the spearhead of the Welsh football revolution. He had built up a brand new squad of incredibly talented youngsters, and thanks to him, Wales are now reaping the rewards of his hard work, having just qualified for the Euros on 2 consecutive occasions.

So it just goes to show that no matter how well someone is doing or how "well" they look on the outside, things can be quite different on the inside.

So if you do ever find times are tough, turn to you team mates, to your friends and to family.

Please take the time to watch this little video made by current and former rugby stars. They try to raise awareness of the suffering and encourage men to talk about their problems. It was linked to the world Cup that just finished, but the message is as just important now as it was a few weeks ago.

Every minute, somewhere in the world, a man dies by suicide. That’s 80 sons, husbands, brothers and fathers for every 80-minute game of Rugby.
