Runner celebrates victory too early: Loses race and the record

Ugandan runner Jacob Kiplimo, after setting a tremendous pace during a 15km annual event in Sao Paulo, Brazil called the San Silvestre de Sao Paulo Road Race.

I get no joy in celebrating someone's heartbreak in competition, especially after both of these gentleman were working so hard towards a new record (and both of them beat the previously-held record) but look how close these two are standing together. Jacob had to of known that this guy was right on his tail yet at the last minute he put his arms up in victory and actually slowed his pace just a few meters from the finish ribbon.

Kibiwott Kandie of Kenya took advantage of this critical error on Jacob's part and as you can see, reached the finish line just inches before him. Kandie won the race and the new record... a fraction of a second faster than Jacob.
