If India would have played a test match on their home soil after 10 years, the whole country of 1.3 billion people would have been watching, not to mention that the stadium would have been occupied at least a week ago by the spectators. However, the story isn't the same when we look at another sub continent giant, Pakistan. During the times of Imran Khan, Wasim Akram , Waqar and even Shoaib Akhter, the Pakistan crowd was right behind their favorite players backing and cheering them but that cheering and backing seems to have faded with time.

Pakistan were playing their first test at home soil after 10 years and everyone would have expected that the crowd will turn in huge numbers but unfortunately, that expectation was not fulfilled. Rawalpindi test failed to attract the crowd and most of the seats in the stadium were empty. Watching it on TV, was also a bit boring and less light on the ground made it a very dull match to watch.

Pakistan offered too many loose deliveries in the first session and as a result, Sri Lanka got off to a good start and both the openers stitched a partnership of 96 runs. However, Pakistani bowlers came back strongly and took 4 wickets for just 31 runs. Bad light forced early stumps and Pakistan walked out slightly a happier side of the two.

Pakistan will most probably bat tomorrow which might be a driving force for the crowd to come in and watch the match.
