So... I Blog... Occasionally...

Well…  aren’t I the slacker.  There have been times where I go weeks and months without making a post, and these days, to be honest, the urge just has not been there.  I seem to be going through the motions of life, content with being average, satisfied with just going to work during the week, chilling at night, consumed with Netflix/Amazon video and sports on the weekend, only to come out of my unambitious coma on Sunday night for The Sports Nerds show, and then going back in my coma for another seven days, without speaking a word to anyone outside of work.  I don’t know what started it, or why it even started in the first place.  Maybe I’m just getting old and lazy.  @jongolson has harped on me for MONTHS to show up every day…  hell, maybe it’s been years, I don’t know, but either way, I need to figure out how to get out of this funk.  I haven’t posted in what seems like months, and have not had much internal motivation to do so.  See, in my head I KNOW I am missing out, I know I am falling behind, yet, for some reason, my brain just doesn’t give a shit.  So, tonight, I reorganized my amazon playlist and created a list that just might energize me, just might inspire me, and hopefully can get me into the mood.

So…  its now October 14, the middle of the month, and the NFL is in full swing, the MLB Playoffs are in session, NHL has started, NBA will soon start, and here I am quiet as a church mouse.  Let's see if I can get up off the floor and bring some content…

Casual observations of the NFL season thus far…  The Patriots are the best team in the NFL, the Dolphins are the worst, and all of the teams in between don’t matter cause New England is gonna win it all again this year.  OK, that’s just depressing…  I would like to send a message to Tom Brady and Bill Bellicheat…  We are TIRED of you guys winning…  we have had to sit for nearly 20 years watching the two of you beating everyone, laughing at all of the competition, dominating the AFC East, winning six championships (thank God for Eli and the Giants) and we are just sick of it, so if you could just do us a favor and just be mediocre for the remainder of your tenure in New England that would be great…

ok…  was that too much?… no?.. good...  F**K the patsies…let’s move on…

OMG, I just witnessed Adam Schefter doing a Lambeau Leap… it was horrible…

Seriously, those that read my blog and those that know me, are very much aware that I am a Cleveland Fan, whether it be Browns or Indians, and you know I have been a fan for most of my life, having been born in NE Ohio and spent my childhood there.  With that being said (again) The Indians missed the postseason thanks to a fluke season by the Twins and the fact they had to attempt to overcome numerous injuries both to their main lineup and pitching staff…  Kluber was out for most of the season and that definitely hurt their chances.  I am still proud of how they fought to the last day of the season, and I look forward to the 2020 campaign.  Can we just please beat the Twins and White Sox next season and once again take our RIGHTFUL place at the top of the AL Central…  I still hold true to the opinion that as long as the Astros and Yankees continue to maintain their dominance, the Tribe has no chance, but as the old adage goes, that’s why they play the games, it’s a 162 game season and anything is possible.

As for the Browns… well... where to start…

Freddie Kitchens seems like he is in over his head, he is a terrible game manager and his play calling is nowhere NEAR what it was last year, despite having significantly better talent on the offensive side of the ball this year.  Baker Mayfield threw for a record amount of touchdowns for a rookie last year,  and he didn’t start until week four of the season last year.  He energized this team, and he led them to a respectable 7-8-1 record, including a final stretch of 5-3 record after Hue Jackson was fired after week 8.  There was plenty of hope coming into this season, with the addition of OBJ, but thus far, they have been disappointing, going 2-4 the first 6 weeks of the season, including a week one loss to the Titans 43-14 (!!!!!)  who are also 2-4, but they have lost to the Broncos and Jaguars, two teams that are not exactly the top tier of the NFL.  I am disappointed in their performance thus far, and although their schedule remains favorable, they have a long way to go before they are among the NFL elite.  Baker has eight picks through six games, and only 4 touchdowns.  He seems lost behind the center and he is not making the plays he made last year.  The lone bright spot for the Browns is RB Nick Chubb, he is a stud and has been responsible for most of the offensive production thus far this year.

I will close with this…  The next five games will determine where the Browns will finish in the division.  They play New England after the bye, then Denver, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, and Miami.  I can see them winning at least three of those games, and if that is the case they will be 5-6 heading into the final stretch of games, where they will face a somewhat soft schedule, so let's see where they go.  they could still finish 10-6, and if that’s the case they could sneak into the playoffs with a wildcard, or perhaps even win the division.  I am optimistic, but then again this is the Browns after all.  I am an eternal optimist when it comes to the Browns, call me a homer, call me delusional, but I firmly believe they can still right the ship.  we’ll see how they play after the bye in Foxboro, then we will move on from there.

Thanks for reading my drivel…
