The dream of most young soccer players is to play in the English Premier League. Coupled with this, it will be a huge bonus to be playing under the supervision of a top-notch manager. These and more reasons are why Gedson Fernandes is overjoyed to be on a loan deal with EPL side, Tottenham Hotspur. The deal lasts for 18 months and comes with an option to sign him on a permanent basis.
The 21-year old Portuguese midfielder started his career at SC Frielas in Portugal in 2008. The next year, he joined SL Benfica's youth team, till he got promoted to the club's reserve team in 2017. He made his professional debut with Benfica second string team in a LigaPro 4-2 win over Deportivo das Aves in February 2017.
His first appearance in Benfica's first team was in a UEFA Champions League group stage match against Fenerbahçe, which ended with Benfica winning with a lone goal. He went on to win the Primeira Liga title with Benfica in the 2018/19 season.
Fernandes has made 2 appearances for the Portuguese National team. In Tottenham, he will wear the No 30 shirt and may be having his debut match pretty soon, especially with Moussa Sissoko recently ruled out till April due to an injury he sustained.
