Lionel Messi has opened up that he thought of leaving Barcelona when he was found guilty of tax fraud in 2016 and was sentenced to 21 months imprisonment or pay a fine of $1.7m

At a point, he actually thought of leaving Barcelona for the fraud but no club came to bid for him. Even if Messi wanted to leave Barca for real, won't Barcelona do everything it takes not to allow him?

Messi refusing to leave Baraca is a matter of his personal decision not that he has not outgrown the fear of trying his luck away from his comfort zone. He doesn't believe he has to move from club to the other to prove how great a player he is.

If Messi was willing to leave Barcelona during the tax saga, no club could afford him unless they sell most of their players. Is it PSG, Bayern Munich, or Manchester City?

The only club that could pay that exorbitant fee for Messi would probably be Madrid and I guess that will not be the best option for him

Which club do you think Messi would have gone during the tax fraud saga?

Actually, many clubs can avoid him then, the likes of Manchester City, Juventus and many clubs in China.

I would guess a team from the States will get him next and use him as a marketing tool. He doesn't need the money, but that would be good for his ego.

A team in the chinese league or MLS would have broken the bank for him. Those league need big marketing and messi would've offered just that.

If he decides to quit someday, i think he'll be going for either of the two leagues

There was a time (around 2017) that Manchester City is really keen to sign Messi with a huge amount.

That time Guardiola wss managing the club and the two had deep relationship with each other. In fact, Messi was one of the key players why Pep was successful in his Barca coaching career
