Spanish Championship suspended due to coronavirus crisis

Spain is one of the countries most affected by the coronavirus in Europe. The country is the second with more deaths on the continent, behind only Italy. The latest bulletin released on Wednesday spoke of 2.2 cases with 54 fatal victims of the disease.

La Liga's decision follows other stoppages in the sports arena. This Wednesday, the NBA was also paralyzed, and the South American Qualifiers games were postponed. In addition, Champions League knockout games in France and Spain were held with closed gates and special care.

"Diante das circunstâncias conhecidas nesta manhã, referentes à quarentena estabelecida no Real Madrid e aos possíveis jogadores testados positivos em outros clubes, LaLiga considera atuais circunstâncias pedem para que se siga com a fase seguinte do protocolo de atuação contra o COCVID-19. Em consequência, de acordo com as medidas estabelecidas pelo Decreto Real 664/1997 de 12 de maio, a suspensão está acordada, ao menos, das próximas rodadas.
A referida decisão será reavaliada após a conclusão das quarentenas decretadas nos clubes afetados e em outras possíveis situações que possam surgir.
A LaLiga, como organizadora da competição, passou a comunicá-la à RFEF (Federação Espanhola de Futebol), ao CSD (Conselho Superior dos Desportes) e aos Clubes."

To said decision, it will be revalued after the conclusion of the decrees of the shaved clubs and in other situations that may arise.
To LaLiga, as organizer of the competition, it passed to the RFEF (Federação Espanhola de Futebol), to CSD (Conselho Superior dos Desportes) and to the Clubs.
