Block.one has announced today their new social media platform, Voice. Dan Larimer has promised a new social media nick-named Steemit 2.0 a while ago. Not sure if it will be Steemit 2.0, but the promise of a new social platform has been delivered today. Block.one presentation was impressive. There is a link to the keynote on the front page of the Voice website.

I like the idea of Voice and design of the app looks amazing too. Users will be earning Voice tokens on the platform. What is interesting is users can reward authors while pushing their comment higher by spending Voice tokens and when some other users push their comment above yours you get your Voice tokens back and some. Interesting. Dan promised there will be no bots and trolls on the platform.

We think social networking is due for a major rework. From the bot mobs to the data tracking, to the shady algorithms behind our feeds, social media has not been a good friend to us. source

I don't think it is bad for Steem. I think they are two different things like twitter and reddit. Steem will be just fine, I hope. :)

I think it is just another experiment and STEEM can learn from it. Does not mean (to me)) that this is a competitor. It just means that Voice is trying to bring new concepts to trial.

Interesting... it does look very slick, and like it could be an upgraded version of Steemit. I am skeptical it will be bot free though, as wherever there is $$ to be made there are people trying to work the system to their advantage.

Will be cool to see how this one goes

It can ... or not. But the most important thing is they are trying new methodologies! That is an upgrade "version" of doing it! I think it will be interesting... As an INVESTOR, I can only participate... so, what do you say about that?

I am glad there is another platform for social media , but I won't be joining. Steem is enough for me and don't see any point in having multiple sites as one is enough. If you end up spending time over there you will let things slip here as the time it takes to grow is too time consuming.

I actually think it is a good thing as some will leave here and it will effect their growth and new users will take their place. I just don't see the new site working and starting from scratch doesn't sound like a smart move to me. It has taken me 15 months to get to where I am today with 6-8 hours a day so I know what is required. most users have at least invested something here so they think it will be easy just to repeat it somewhere else.and I know it won't.

Many others like to explore... but respect for their own opinion and preference. I myself don't have Facebook and probably never will have. That is is just a dumb (probably...) as being blind to businesses.

Hehe, This time you are pretty fast to hunt this down lol. Well, many cryptos Big investors ain't happy about this. Id verification yep many people want to remain anonymous because of many reasons. And they are right and we all know them they are well-reputed steemians. But my question is ? Is this a only way to stop abuse of bots and fake peoples? Perhaps not you could have thought better solution i guess? According to my analysis, 60% of crypto is going to dislike this idea and only 40% will like this

On Voice, you need voice tokens to get the visibility. You can voice your comment and it goes up. If someone voice is higher, you will get back your tokens and get some extra. This is pretty cool! As they said, there will be no bots. And it has an authentication system. Voice is for human, not bots. This is very exciting!

I do encourage you to validate things though. Don't go blind on everything. Do your own investigation and learning about things. Otherwise, you are just as blind as everyone else.

I've seen many STEEM competitor and none of them convinced me that they were going to be a threat. But coming from @dan and Block.One I can see this being something powerful. I got this message when I try to watch the Keynote:

We use a special authentication system to make sure every user on Voice is an actual person. No robo-mobs. No catfish. No burner accounts.

I wonder if this would be too privacy invading and end up being like the Sesame Credit system on blockchain. I'd rather see something like Civic being used for identity verification.

Gathering personal identification and data is authoritative at it's very foundation. The list goes on and on.

you ARE MISSING THE CRIME THING... and if for you anonymous crime is part of decentralization (never said you did... just guessing).. then you are wrong. sorry... at least this is my view.

Plus you are confusing decentralization with governance... which DAC's will solve one day. I don't which for centralized and monopolized attitudes to take the world... I don't like those too! But I think that, decentralization has to still evolve... in the crypto world...

A LOT to be honestly secure for every family! Currently it just causes more hassle for people that don't know how to deal with it, than it solves stuff for the real world.

Using social activity to experiment on the next phase, will work towards the next findings on how to find the best solution.

How do they make sure the popularity is not manipulated as it's been a normal thing at Steemit that those who could afford voting bots, were easily in trending list for different categories.

Your post goes live! When other users like it, you earn Voice tokens and your post gains visibility. The more popular your post — the more you earn.

Voice reminds me of how the giant social network Facebook has been bad for us for every 5th post on it was an ad. The worst part: they never paid users for their content the way YouTube does.

Voice sounds pretty cool, I have visited their site and it and came to know about this voice platform. Steemit 2.0 indeed it could be and I have applied for beta access let's check this one out too since I am already getting a big fan of steemit. Where else you can earn money just by putting your some thoughts?

Nice. I pre-registered but I think I would not link to my other anonymous social media account like Steem. They are similar in a way yet also very different. We should expect more humanize interactions in voice but I think I can still exercise more freedom here as an anonymous character. LOL!

I have been using the Steemit platform for more than a year and found the format content to be great. The emergence of similar applications will increase the value of Steemite and alternative platforms enable each other to develop. Money is very difficult to earn money with the likes of your post. But since I thought that it would be a platform that could make a lot of money as an investment for the future, I applied for a preliminary application. Let's support each other as a Steemit community. .. :))))

Wow! What a great platform you have searched. I have seen many types of social media platforms but they are not as good as this one. I like this idea so much as it has many interesting features in it and it can easily be have more humanize interactions in one voice. i will definitely use this platform.

I really get disappointed by the Dan announcement as I was wondering that there will be a social media platform where we could earn EOS just like Steem on Steemit. This voice social app has Voice token which is a shady one.

It seems they have only focused on real people, unlike Steemit which has fake users and bots as well. It may promising platform. Let's see

Tbh Meos got pretty hyped indeed. Whileas a Steem users it always Steem Blockchain will always be the 1st choice to me and besides it will be hard to cope up because of time issue. Overall, lets see what DAN brings for Voice users. You were indeed pretty fast in terms of hunting it lol

@geekgirl, this got to be the coolest hunt for today. It is fresh out in the oven. Some people are a bit disappointed at it. At least we all know that it is Voice, and it is worth trying out to see how this social media network can perform. People can start signing up for the testing period and we can all witness and see how it goes in terms of social interaction of this blockchain. I was expecting to see this one today and wondered who would get it. Great show @geekgirl.

I signed up for the beta for this the other day. I think this is something that has been a long time coming if they can find a way to actually compete with Facebook. That is the main competition they need to worry about. Nothing else is going to come close. The other thing they are going to need to do is make the barrier to entry very low. If people have to deal with private and public keys and all of that, they are not going to be interested in using the product. That is just the facts. I am a big fan of EOS so I hope Voice ends up being very successful. Thanks for putting this out there.
