How Has Steem Impacted My Life

avatar

I was once in a gathering where a young man who was the programme coordinator mentioned to the new members that they should dedicate only 2 months to that organization and see the impacts that the organization will have on them within that space of time. If it's negative or null, they should stay away. This simply is a promise that they'll be positively impacted.

In this same vein, steem has really impacted my life positively; that's why I am still here, and posting daily. I will be discussing in this post how steem has impacted my life, and I hope that people who read my story can get some motivation to come on board, or to resume activities on the blockchain.

Firstly, steem was my bounce back mechanism after I suffered and was ravagely wrecked by crypto fraud and ponzi schemes using bitcoin. Bitcoin was my first experience with cryptocurrency and I ignorantly made wrong investments and lost everything. Steem was the first altcoin I got knowledge of, and the fact that I could earn it without investment, that was the motivation that I needed. I joined in November 2017 and began to learn and employ all the blogging means needed. That was the beginning, but the following weeks were more promising than I envisaged.

Secondly, blogging on steem helped to improve my research and writing skills, and furthermore got me exposed to other amazing crypto projects. The quest to post correct, unadulterated and non plagiarized content made me to develop much more intense research skills, improved my writing, because the more I wrote, the better I got at vocabulary, sentence construction, markdown, and elementary programming skills. My interaction with other bloggers' posts introduced me to other crypto projects, as steem remains the most decentralized platform, unreservedly permitting various crypto projects to be publicized on the steem blockchain.

Income generation. This probably should have been my first point, because that was what prompted me to join in the first place, but I decided to reserve it till this stage. Without any investment, I made my first cash out on steem within the second week that I started posting. I remained skeptical until I withdrew, exchanged for fiat, and got a credit notification. I was dumbfounded! The amount was little, but it came like it was free money.

That cash out made me take my steem adventure more seriously, and I decided to join communities that I thought could give me more support. I came across highly rewarding contests, which I took part in, and won some great gifts in steem and SBD. Fortunately for me, prices of steem and SBD increased drastically around December 2017, just within my first 4 weeks of joining, and since my sole aim when I joined was for income, I continued to cash out, until the following bear market started and continued to deepen. At that point, I started to consider powering up.

Socially, steem has helped me to exert positive energy into social media, thereby meeting several intelligent personalities. Most people, especially youths spend too much time, money and energy on social media, to get nothing profitable in return. If not for my engagement on steem, I probably would have gotten myself engulfed in the filth and negativity associated with many social platforms. In other words, steem has not only helped keep my sanity, but also helped me imbibe positive instincts and produce meaningful results.

Most of the other similar projects that have risen using the same steem ideology have either gone extinct or are totally deserted due to poor policies, inconsistency, lack of vision, greed, lack of community interests, poor cryptoeconomic understanding, and generally, centralization. With these pitfalls, they are unable to stand the test of time, and soon crumble. Most of them turned out to be bad investments. I once powered down some steem to buy tokens of those platforms to stake. That was the worst decision I've made since I joined steem. I am still in the process of recuperating and revamping my steem stake.

Many projects also keep rising on the steem blockchain, bringing diversity into blogging. The introduction of steem tribes is a good example of such. Users are able to earn other rewards in addition to steem. Minnows or planktons who do not get so much rewards in steem have the opportunity to earn other rewards which they can exchange for steem or other cryptos. This singular project has kept users blogging and even attracted more bloggers to the blockchain, despising the effects of the crypto bear market.

Personally, I have developed so much interest in the sports tribe, where I get sports update daily and I submit at least a sports post daily. It is a productive initiative, and the more of these projects, the more steem keeps getting attractive, and the stronger it gets.

Steem has massively impacted my life positively, and I gladly recommend it to family members, friends, and all my blog readers.

Hello @tolustx!

I like your jouney c: Much like yourself, my writing abilities rapidly improved when I realized that I could be rewarded for learning. I learned more about how to write and research properly, while also learning about the Steemians around me.

I took a long break (maybe a year) from Steemit and only came back recently. Out of all the things I have done to earn side income, Steemit is my favorite. There are discussion forums where I see people asking if there are any usable applications for cryptocurrency, and I smile when I see Steemit mentioned.

We make mistakes and some not great investments, but that experience will help on your quest in the future. When you see crypto in a bear market, you want to buy more. Good on you for that attitude!

Stay blessed,
@shello

Interesting contribution. Steem opened the eyes of many people to the hidden possibilities in the crypto space. So either you're wealthy or not so rich, you can still make impact, and earn something in return. Great! Like you, I also took a break, but mine was much shorter. I tried other similar platforms, but they all could not stand the test of time, but steem keeps getting stronger 💪

Thank you for your swift reply @tolustx,

I like to believe that Steem is the one place where your voice is what holds value. I didn't even know there were other similar platforms. I can see where you're coming from wanting to be involved in many crypto projects, many of them do come and go however. I'm sure that if you keep going, you can continue to power up and have a good time.

With love,
@shello

Oh, there are a couple of steemit clones online, and some others that use blogging to reward users too, but no one does it like steem. I joined up to 5 of such projects, so I can boldly say steem is the place to be.

Steem engagement just requires perseverance. There may not be a good audience and support for a long time, but if you keep doing your work with diligence, one of those posts will attract the support you desire. Thanks for keeping this conversation.

That's some good news, thank you for investigating other sites so others don't have to. (including me!) I joined Steemit because a YouTuber I followed really liked the idea behind it. I didn't know anyone when I came here, so I spent the beginning part of my journey learning more about myself.

I can attest to the amount of dedication that it takes to build an audience. For a whole 3 months I was writing to the sky pretty much, the following happened much later.

It is not only posts, but interacting and commenting on things you genuinely enjoy helps as well. The post author might be like "wow I need to know who this person is" and then crazy things happen! Thank you so much for entertaining me here, I'll be off to bed shortly.

I look forward to reading some of your future posts.

Good night!
