Christmas athletes are expected to have Christmas soon after P550,000 worth of gold medal has been dropped

Filipino athletes at the 30th Southeast Asian Games will finish today at our new sports complex in New Clark City in Capas, Tarlac.

This comes after President Rodrigo Roa Duterte pledged an additional P250,000 to gold medalists, P150,000 in silver and P100,000 by bronze medalists.

That amount is in addition to the government's provision of the Republic Act 10699 called national athletes expanded incentives act enacted in November 2015.

“We were all hoping and praying for this, but it is still a sweet surprise now that it is actually happening. I am so proud of our athletes. All of them deserve our respect and love, ”said PSC chairman William“ Butch ”Ramirez who is also the Chief of Mission of Team Philippines.

At RA 10699 the gold medalist will receive a biennial meeting of P300,000, P150,000 for the silver medalists and P60,000 for the bronze medalists up to P550,000 for gold, P300,000 for silver and P160,000 for bronze medalists medal.

According to the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), the said cash incentives will be given this December 18 at a ceremony held in Malacañang itself.
