Before the fight against Meralco in the best-of-seven championship series, Barangay Ginebra was nervous.

This was due to the addition of 6-foot-8 center Raymond Almazan, shooter Allein Maliksi and rookie guard Bong Quinto.

But with their 92-84 win in Game Three of the 2019 PBA Governor's Cup Finals on Sunday, the Gin Kings were out of control.

"That's a huge confidence boost for us," said veteran point guard LA Tenorio. "We had the confidence that we could beat this team because we were really doubting how we could beat this team because they're really good defensively."

Ginebra will force its way into the expected 12th crown when it faces Meralco at 7 pm in Game Four at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

After the Gin Kings took Game One, 91-87, the Bolts outscored Game Two, 104-102.

Claiming Ginebra 2-1 ahead of the series, resident import Justin Brownlee posted all-around numbers of 24 points, 9 rebounds, and 9 assists.

Flying forward Japeth Aguilar and playmaker Stanley Pringle added 23 and 21 markers, respectively.

With Almazan's left knee injury in Game Three at the Bolts, Aguilar and 7-foot-1 Greg Slaughter will take advantage of the Gin Kings.

"What he has done this conference gives us an opportunity to match up the big man of the other teams and without him, we almost had a hole in the middle," Meralco mentor Norman Black told Almazan. “We will just try to find a way to camouflage it or try to fix it.”

Meanwhile, before the war, the PBA will award the Best Player of the Conference award.

Five-time PBA MVP June Mar Fajardo of San Miguel is leading the way.
