Another Great Day In Tennis

I was looking forward to this day to see a good match and my wish came through.

Simona Halep played at 5am my time, so there was no chance I could watch that match. I'm not that fanatic to wake up at 5am on Saturday for a tennis match. Besides, we live in a digital era, plenty of opportunities to watch a match after the event. As I was hoping, Simona beat Yulia Putintseva in two sets.

The other match I was looking for was the one in which Nick Kyrgios met the 23 year old Russian Karen Khachanov. I didn't know him till now, haven't seen him playing but what I saw today made me write down his name.

He has won four ATP singles titles. Khachanov achieved his career-high singles ranking of world No. 8 on 15 July 2019, after reaching the quarterfinals of the 2019 French Open. source

At the beginning Khachanov seemed a little bit rusty or out of practice but then he got himself together and showed Kyrgios what tennis means in Russia. If Kyrgios thought today will be an easy day, now he knows he was wrong.

It was a very interesting and intense match. Both players were equally good as far as I am concerned and we got to see a show if I want to be honest. Kyrgios tried to show the audience that he's a tricky guy, not that it was needed. Everyone know he is, unfortunately some of his tricks came out wrong and he lost. Regardless, he was amazing. In fact both of them were. Kind of felt sorry for Khachanov but I'm glad Kyrgios won.

Tomorrow is going to be interesting. Djokovic is meeting Diego Schwartzman and he must win! He has no choice, he must win! Federer will play against the Hungarian Márton Fucsovics. I expect Federer and Djokovic to win.

Monday will be even more interesting. There will be fireworks as Kyrgios is playing against Nadal. Bothe are very good but they can't really stand each other. Kyrgios was mocking Nadal yesterday and Nadal knows that. Nadal is better than Kyrgios but still, I want Kyrgios to win.
