ATP Tour - Dubai - Djokovic vs Khachanov and Monfils vs Gasquet

Novak Djokovic vs Karen Khachanov this match was the highlight of the day. When No. 1 is playing against No. 17, you know what's going to happen.

Karen Khachanov, even though he's No. 17 at the moment, it's a good player. I knew he's going to do everything he can on the tennis court and he did. He's been consistent, there were no sighs of him giving up, not even for a minute. He has managed to win two games in each set but unfortunately that wasn't enough as he lost to 2 - 6, 2 - 6.

Regardless of today's result, I still like him and consider him a great player who's going to be among the top players very soon.

What can I say about Novak Djokovic, that hasn't been said yet?! He's been himself today during the match that lasted only one or so hour. He knew who's he dealing with and let's not forget he's unbeatable at the moment.

The other quarter final of the tournament was between Gaël Monfils and Richard Gasquet, both French. I didn't know what to expect of this match as I only knew Monfils and I knew he's good. I've never seen Gasquet playing, knew nothing about him. These two players know each other very well, they've met before many times.

Gasquet was a bit of a disappointment to me. I don't know how he has managed to get into the quarters as there were better players than him that had less chance than him. He has tried his best but his shots were out of focus most of the times and he made a lot of mistakes, making Monfils' job much more easier. Monfils won to 6 - 3, 6 -3. He only needed to sets today. He was lucky not to play three sets as tomorrow he has a hard match, he needs his energy.

Tomorrow will be an interesting day again, with two semifinals.

  1. Dan Evans vs Stefanos Tsitsipas
At this point I'm really glad Tsitsipas is playing against Djokovic tomorrow. Evans is currently No. 150 according to Wikipedia, which makes me wonder how come he's in the semifinals. I'm expecting Tsitsipas to win, he has no other choice.

  2. Novak Djokovic vs Gaël Monfils
I don't think I have to state the obvious here. Monfils is good but not that good to beat Djokovic.

The final will be between Tsitsipas and Djokovic hopefully.
