ATP Tour - Dubai - Evans vs Tsitsipas

The two semifinals took place today in Dubai, one of which was between Dan Evans and Stefanos Tsitsipas. Tsitsipas is one of my favorites, it is normal to end up in the semifinals. Dan Evans I didn't know till today, so I ran a search to see who he is. What I found out was totally shocking.

He's a 29 year old tennis player from Birmingham. According to Wikipedia, hes' the bad boy of British tennis, because at 18, he went clubbing the night before the match and obviously, the other day he lost. He has a reputation for drinking and partying but he says it's under control.

While I understand that he needs to enjoy life and can't give up everything for tennis, party life in incompatible with professional sport. This is not my opinion only, that's what everyone says. A party here and there is ok and needed as you need to recharge your batteries but not before matches. He thinks otherwise, obviously. Anyway, this is his problem and of those who are working with him.

Today he got to play against the Greek Tsitsipas, who's one of the best right now and 8 year younger than him. He's not only good but also very disciplined at his age (21).

The difference between the two was clearly visible from the start, so it wasn't really a question of who's going t win. Dan Evans has fought during the match but with not much results as the Greek was way better. Lack of experience from Evans' part was visible.

Tsitsipas won to 6 - 2, 6 - 3 without any problem and qualified for the final, I guess he didn't even get tired. Tomorrow he's going to meet Djokovic in the final.
