From Tantrums To Fundraiser
Nick Kyrgios's name must sound familiar to every tennis fan as he's not a usual player. He's the 24-year-old Aussie that holds the record for the biggest fine so far. I remember when he got it and was quite shocked about it. He's not the only one unfortunately, there are many players each season fined for inappropriate behavior.
Having a temper like his at this young age is not helpful at all and holding the record for the biggest fine in tennis is not exactly something to be famous for either. I remember I felt sorry for him as he's going to be remembered for this and maybe not for his success in tennis.
Today I saw his name in the news and this time it wasn't because he got fined again for something stupid he did. He has planned a massive fundraiser event for bushfire victims. As you all know Australia is facing massive bushfires again and many had to leave their homes. As a result of his effort, there's going to be a tennis exhibition featuring some of the world’s top players.
Kyrgios floated the idea of a charity tennis match and Tennis Australia on Friday responded by announcing “Rally For Relief”, an exhibition match on Rod Laver Arena on 15 January. It will also donate proceeds from a Jessica Mauboy concert on 19 January to the Red Cross appeal and grant $1m for communities to rebuild tennis facilities. source
This is very good news and I'm happy to see the tennis world coming together to help. I'm sure it's not easy as these tennis players have a tight schedule and they need to train but as you can see, where there's will, there's a way.
I'm not sure if we're going to be able to watch the event but I'll be happy to. These tennis matches are different from those from competitions. These are more like a show and rules are not so strict, therefore it's more fun. I guess I'll be back with details, let's see who's going to participate.
Although i may not know him because i am not that current in tennis sport but am imagining the type of player he is already
