Problems At U.S. Open

U.S. Open (The United States Open Tennis Championships) is an important tournament. It's the fourth and final Grand Slam tournament of the year after the Australian Open, the French Open, and Wimbledon. I believe every tennis player's dream to be present and play. Many have the chance to participate but sometimes things just go wrong.

Today while reading the news I saw Serena Williams had some knee problems which at that point looked like not a big deal, she said she's going to be fine but that's still not a certainty as these injuries can get worse the next day. I hope she's right and she's going to be fine as she had to quit not long ago due to an injury.

Novak Djokovic, defending champion and No. 1 was forced to retire due to pain in his left shoulder. He was playing against the Swiss Stanislas Wawrinka, who is three-time major champion.

Djokovic had won 36 of his past 37 Grand Slam matches, and four of the last five major titles, in one of the most dominant stretches this sport has seen. source

With Djokovic out, Roger Federer has an easier job now.

There are things we never know as players medical situations is kept private for a very good reason. I can understand that and agree with. Privacy must be respected no matter who you are.

However, the other thing I have to mention here is that athletes don't fully recover from injuries as there's no time. Championships, tournaments are planned in advance and the date is not modified for you just because you're injured. I believe they are often competing with serious injuries, hoping they can still do a good job and win and recover after. This strategy may work or may not, sometimes forcing your luck makes more damages but these days athletes would do anything to win.

Djokovic has a reputation for giving up too quickly. I can't blame him for this as he's the one responsible for his health and he knows what's best for him. Sometimes pushing hard can have serious consequences and just not worth it.
