Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal

The above mentioned two tennis players are my favorite but I'm not mentioning them both in my post because of that, but because they both got beaten at ATP Finals in London. They are both top level players, I believe they had both a chance to win but those chances are less now.

Roger Federer was beaten by Dominic Thiem on Sunday. However, he can still qualify for the ATP World Tour Finals 2019 if he can beat both Matteo Berrettini and Novak Djokovic and Djokovic loses to Dominic Thiem. Can he do that? Will Novak Djokovic lose to Dominic Thiem? I have no idea, I guess the right answer is the obvious one, I mean "we'll see".

Rafael Nadal lost to Alexander Zverev on Monday. There are a lot of scenarios regarding his chances but I'm not going to go into these as I don't really like to speculate, unless it's necessary.

Looks like fans were not happy with this outcome, they were expecting both to do better and they are judgemental. This happens very often unfortunately. I'm not saying they don't have the right to have expectations but let's not forget that both tennis players are human with normal problems like any other people and they both were facing injuries not long ago. Regardless of these injuries, none of them has blamed their injuries as the cause of their defeat, which I can really appreciate.

I've seen this judgemental behavior towards the Romanian tennis star of the moment, Simona Halep. She's the best player Romania ever had and yet she's been criticized all the time over the years for this and that and that behavior never ends. These are TV watching people who are staying on the couch at home, in front of the TV and know everything better than anybody else even though they have never played tennis in their life.

I remember before the 2016 Rio Olympics Simona decided not to participate. I don't know the reason, I don't think it's been ever revealed however, there were voices saying she refused to go because she was afraid of zika virus and some were calling her a coward. This is the ugliest thing fans can do to any athlete. When they are winning, they are celebrated, when they are losing, they are judged. I'm always saying to these people to try to be in their shoes for one month, let's see if their opinion changes after the experience. I can guarantee you they will have a very different opinion and they will never see anything the same old way.

Back to my two favorites, the good news is they are very good friends and looks like this friendship is for life. They are rivals on the tennis course and friends outside the tennis course, which is the most amazing thing. I wish them both good luck and wish their friendship will never end.
