Sabalenka shocks Barty for Madrid title

Aryna Sabalenka has won the Madrid Open after she put up a spectacular performance to defeat world No 1 Ashleigh Barty to clinch the title.

The Belarusian secured the first set in under 25minutes and went on to win the tie 6-0 3-6 6-4 after three sets.

This game which was all about revenge for Sabalenka after she lost the Stuttgart final to Barty about 2 wks ago.

Sabalenka made Barty pay as she broke her momentum. In the process, she also ended the Australian run on clay which began at Rome in 2019,

Having secured her first Grand slam, Sabalenka will now be part of the contenders for the French Open coming up in 30th of May in Paris.
