Awesome final at Wimbledon between Djokovic and Berrettini 🎾🎾🎾

A great tennis match was played today in Wimbledon, the final of the prestigious tournament that saw as finalists the world champion Novak Djokovic and the Italian Matteo Berrettini, who surprised by the excellent results obtained during the previous meetings and was the first Italian in history to reach the Wimbledon final, the most important tennis tournament in the world.

Although the favorite of the match has always been Djokovic, the overwhelming race of the Italian tennis player was not underestimated by the champion, recognizing in Matteo the future promise of world tennis. The Croatian player played his thirtieth final in a Grand Slam tournament here in London, his seventh at Wimbledon, a tournament he won for the sixth time, the third in a row. Certainly an insurmountable obstacle for Matteo who tried to put his opponent in difficulty and succeeded in the first and very long set, which ended 7-6 in favor of the Italian tennis player, and gave more than some hope of victory.

But the class of the champion and Novak's experience was seen in the moment of greatest difficulty: his calm and precision in the attack disoriented Berrettini who was reached in the second set 6-4, and then he left it to his opponent also the following ones with the score 6-4, 6-3. The Italian does not play to the best of his ability even in his strong shots, serve and forehand, but the outcome of the last act of Wimbledon 2021 depended above all on the qualities of Novak Djokovic. The Serbian trembles only in the final of the first set, when he gives up the bat and then loses the tie break, but then takes the match back in hand thanks to experience, coolness and his infinite class.

Congratulations go to Berrettini for an unexpected path, in the awareness that there are still many margins for improvement and that he played the first final of a Grand Slam with his head held high in the presence of one of the best tennis players of all time.

Now the Serbian is close to the dream of the Grand Slam: the victory at Wimbledon is added to the triumphs in the Australian Open and Roland Garros, in August at the US Open Djokovic could enter the legend of world sport succeeding in a feat accomplished only by Donald Budge in 1938 and by Rod Laver, in 1962 and then in 1969.

Matteo rises to number eight in the world rankings and this defeat taught the young Italian tennis player, aged 25, what his limits are and how to improve them. There is still a long way to go to be able to reach the first place in the world ATP ranking and be able to defeat players of the level of Novak Djokovic, who remains the strongest tennis player in the world today and has clearly demonstrated it in this great final of Wimbledon 2021. .

I am convinced that Matteo will be able to aim for the victory of the tournament in the next two years, his power is undisputed, a bit of experience is still needed at these levels and success will come.

I didn't see the match, but I felt that the English bettors gave the Italian little chance of winning. From your post I understand that the Italian fought well anyway.
