So far for the plan to get up early making the previews already in the morning as I'm running late with a little over an hour left for the first match of 2021. I just finished updating my statistics spreadsheet and am taking a closer look at the game for tonight...

Eupen vs Racing Genk

Eupen lost 3-0 away to Club Brugge in a match where they simply were not ready due to covid cases. They started well organized and didn't have too many problems holding up in and low-energy 1st half which ended 0-0. Once the first goal came in the 2nd half it quickly turned 2-0 and eventually 3-0. They now have some key players back and overall have shown to be capable. Especially in their 1st halves where they ran 2nd in the league with an average of 1.75 points taken. Overall I rate them as a mature team, but the main question will be how well recovered the covid players are already by now. Genk has had a great period but didn't fully convince at home against Waasland in their last match which ended 1-1. They lost Joakim Maehle during the winter break but are pretty complete even though they are still waiting for some new transfers to arrive. If I would have made this preview in the morning, I might have been tempted by Eupen +0.5 @ 1.90+ odds, by now this has dropped a bit and I'm not about to chase it. I don't expect an easy match for Genk even though they should hold up on the defensive side where they looked quite strong in recent matches. 9 again seems to be a key Corners number with Eupen not having gone under yet at home (landing 4 of their matches exactly on 9). Genk also leans toward being a high corners team especially away. They did lose the corners in 6 of their 8 away matches while Eupen is 4-4 at home on not losing. I'm not getting involved in any pre-game bets and will just wait it out what the match will bring in-game leaving all options open. No Pre-Game Bets
