Algeria are Champions

After their triumph in their final match, Algeria are the Champions of Africa, for only the second time in their history. Their game with Senegal, which ended 1-0 in favor of the desert foxes, the goal coming through Baghdad Bounedjah's speculative effort, which now holds the record for the fastest goal in an AFCON final and the dominance of Senegal on possession were the only positives to take from the game. Much of which was filled with shenanigals.

Algeria We're the best team in Egypt, treating us to the best football moments of the tournament, sometimes sweeping their opponents off their feets. But this wasn't their best match, though it might usher in a new era of Algerian football, as we were able to see the blend of skills of Mahrez and Belaili, and also the defensive masterclass of Aissa Mandi and Djamel Benlamri.

Senegal didn't have much luck or referee decisions in their favor, but then Cisse's side simply lacked the ability to trouble the Algerian side, and on occasions when they were able to break, Niang was in no mood of scoring. This in a long run epitomizes why Algeria are worthy winners of the night, as it's believed that the true traits of champions is winning, even when you not playing your best game.

Algeria might not have been the better side over the course of 90 minutes, but they sure deserved this victory based on their overall AFCON performance.
