My Actifit Report Card: May 25 2021
Hey everybody and thanks for stopping by!
This morning found us headed out to the Sumas post office to deliver the EDDM mailing so it can be sent out. As we were leaving Sumas, we both spied something you don’t see too often around here. It was a caboose sitting on a side spur of the BNSF railroad. Being the train nuts that we are, we had to stop and investigate.
This caboose had an oil fired heating system in it. We’ve been told by a reliable source that the cabooses are used but not as much as they once were. Unfortunately our source says, our country and the railroad do not take into account the historical value of these railroad icons and once it becomes unusable, will be cut apart for scrap. How sad!😢 I would love to take this little gem home and place it on a short section of rail and either restore it or turn it into a studio or tiny house.
We headed out for a hike later in the afternoon. It had been mostly sunny up until this point, and wouldn’t you know it- it started raining just as we set out! ☔️ I pulled out my trusty umbrella and we continued on. About a half a mile or so, it stopped. Jan originally was not coming with us, but as we were trekking around Slumbering Bear trail, she texted and said her drive got canceled and she was headed up to meet us. Here are some orange/red Columbine.
Once up at Towhee Ridge, @actifit-lamb and Winchester-lamb played a competitive game of high stakes checkers!
It was a good game 😎🐑
The evening is drawing near and tomorrow is another day. Work awaits.
Take care and get out there and get those hooves movin’! 👣🐑💜☔️🌼☕️😎👍😴

What are cabooses?
I know that you love those.
Didn't you belong to a club?
The caboose was what used to be at the end of a train. Nowadays, they just put a Marr's light (flashing red light) on the last car. We have been train nuts for many years; to the point of, at one time, owning a retail shop back in Ohio, selling N scale; HO scale, O27 scale, and G scale also known as garden railway. I was an honorary member to the Cinder Sniffers club; a live steam club also originating back in Ohio. I ran a steam engine and hauled passengers. It was scaled down of course, but big enough for adults and kids alike to ride. My dream would be to run a full size steam locomotive! Once, while riding the Cumbres and Toltec New Mexico line, I went outside to the closest car, right behind the coal car, just to stand and smell the coal smoke and get the cinders all over me! It was so awesome! Most of my train nostalgia is really with the Narrow Gauge that was typical in Colorado. I could tell you other stories........Thanks for stopping by sis!🤗😘💕🌸
