My Actifit Report Card: August 23 2020

"The right time" and Perfection must be the biggest lies I have believed in.

Since I made a decision to travel, learn about sustainable living and explore places for the stories and lifestyle, I came to a conclusion that it's pretty much useless just gathering information if I am not able to practice it. Not all of them, but the ones I would want to trust and hope to see in the future.

A way to gather food, be it called with the fancy names of "organic farming" or "permaculture" was one such idea I really wanted to have in my life. Especially after visiting Auroville and seeing the efforts, I wanted know what it takes to lead such a lifestyle. However, volunteering there at that time for me was not possible.

So, I thought why not do it at my own place. But, soon enough I understood it's not that easy to convince people about your ideas. My parents already started doing their own experiments in growing vegetables and it was not much related to what I was trying to do, so I didn't want to disturb (just read I wanted full control and hate depending on someone reach the land which is a few kms away from where we we live (or just lazy))

But, I didn't give up, all thanks to coronavirus. I knew I am going to be here at least till December. Also, the terrace farming or an urban setup suits me more to try out things.

So, the thought was there for sure but there's this bug of perfection that made wait.

I wanted not to use any pastic, get only organic seeds and the list of conditions was endless.

Basically, I was hoping for a fruit like this one on a tree like this (below picture) on a terrace in a terracotta pot.

Aand then, finally, I turned into the grow bags that were available home for the past I don't know from when.

I think it's best to try things out before the time runs out rather than waiting for the perfect setups to happen.

So, now I have these growbags filled with soil and I want to see what happens with these seeds/vegetables I have just dumped. Even though I didn't study the whole farming techniques, I think they should be growing from that without any human efforts right! Hopefully.

And right next to the terrace stands these trees with all these creepers that carelessly spread around them yet look so beautiful. That kind of make me want to try all these in a proper land. Maybe after a looong time later in the future.

For now, let me see how these tomatoes and chillies are going to do in those bags. Excited for them 😊
