My Activities on April 8, 2021, | Stories of two patients | COVID status in Oman π΄π² | Proof of win π | IAAC #93
Hello, wonderful people of the hive community? How are you all? Hope that you are having a favourable time. I am fine, Alhamdulillah. Here is my today's activities report. It is also my 93rd participation in the #iamalivechallenge contest, a project run by @flaxz. In this post, I am going to share a few patients story. Towards the end of the post, you will find the proof of today's win.
Patent story 01
Today morning, at around 10:30 am, I was consulting patients in my chamber when a nurse came to inform me that there is a patient with severe breathing difficulty. So, I immediately went to the observation room and found a Bangladeshi middle-aged patients laying in the bed with severe breathing difficulty. He was having difficulties in talking as well. However, in short, I came to know his history. For the last 4-5 days, he was having diarrhoea and abdominal pain. During this period, he passed the motion around 30-40 times! He didn't go to any doctor due to the fear of the pandemic. Today, his sponsor brought him to us.
He was in severe distress with pain and breathing difficulty. His whole body was cold. The pulse oximeter couldn't read his oxygen saturation and pulse rate ( due to cold limb). His blood pressure was unmeasurable and his pulse was untraceable. The nurses got a vein after several pricks. In the meantime, I informed the regional hospital that I was bringing a patient with hypovolemic shock and severe shortness of breath. At one point, the pulse oximeter showed oxygen saturation. It was unbelievably low (36% on room air). We started high flow oxygen with a facemask immediately.
Then we shifted the patient to the regional hospital. They were waiting for us in the emergency department. We handed him over to them. As a few patients were waiting for me in my clinic, I returned a few minutes later.
Patent story 02
Several minutes before the arrival of the previously mentioned patient, another stable Bangladeshi patient of mid-30 came to my chamber with the complaint of dizziness & giddiness, generalized weakness and insomnia for the last 3-4 days. When I examined him, I found all the vitals were within the normal limit except his low pulse rate or heart rate. It was around 44 beats per minute. For a healthy person, the heart rate should be more than 60 beats per minute.
I did one ECG and during taking the tracing the heart was only 36 beats per minute. There were no other abnormalities in his ECG. It was a case of severe sinus bradycardia. As he was symptomatic, he needed to be evaluated by a cardiologist.
By the time, his ECG was done, we are ready to transfer the previously mentioned patient. So, I took him with me to the regional hospital as well.
After finishing handing over the unstable patient, I talked with the emergency physicians about this patient. They also took him in for evaluation.
Every day, I am coming to know about the sufferings, diseases and pain of various people and patient. However, with the blessings from Allah, I am alive, healthy and fine. Alhamdulillah. For that, I am grateful to Him. All praise is due to Allah.
Physical Activity
No walk on the treadmill. But did play with my kid after 9 pm. Had walks in between my office, home and the mosque. All of these activities helped me getting the 10k plus steps before 10 pm. Here is the proof for the win.
