Yamaha chose Garrett Gerloff in the European MotoGP racing series, November 6-8 to replace Valentino Rossi if he was still positive for Covid-19 by Friday. Garrett Gerloff is a racer from the World Superbike (WSBK) event from the United States. Garrett Gerloff has spent a decade in motor sports winning several trophies and winning the WERA National series to the Daytona Cycling Sports Championship.
Gerloff followed MotoAmerica Supersport in 2015 and finished 3rd in his first season. His performance improved in 2016 and 2017 by becoming champion when he was 22 years old. This success saw him move up to the MotoAmerica Superbike class in 2018 in the factory Yamaha squad. Gerloff showed positive graphs by grabbing five podiums in his debut. In the second season, Gerloff won four wins and 11 podiums in 20 races. His score was enough to get him to third place in the standings in 2019, only 51 points adrift of the Champion.
If he appears in the European MotoGP, this will be the right moment to step onto the world stage. With the GRT Yamaha squad and the backing of the manufacturer offering him and his team mate Federico Caricasulo a great package for the season, Gerloff is enjoying a fine opening season.
This season, Gerloff has won three podiums namely in Barcelona with the other two at Estoril. The racer from Texas, USA previously underwent a test with Yamaha at Aragon in November 2019 and two tests in Jerez between the end of November 2019 and January 2020. The European MotoGP racing series will take place at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit, Valencia, 6-8 November.
