Blast from the past - WRC Rally GB 2001

avatar

Hi, friends!

It is 20 years that passed from season 2001 and some memories are still very good.

Rally GB brought us a new World Rally Champion and it was Richard Burns who drove for Subaru at that point of his career.

Peugeot won Manufacturer's WRC trophy with Marcus Gronholm and Didier Auriol as their leading drivers. Hari Rovanpera was stepping into the 2nd works team at Peugeot because he won at Rally Sweden and the most of that season he drove for Peugeot satellite team Bozian Racing.

Hyundai works team never finished on the podium when they were in WRC under MSD Developments as their tuner 20 years ago. Their cars were just not strong and powerful enough to win anything. On this rally Alister McRae finished 4th and Kenneth Eriksson finished 6th, both driving Hyundai Accent WRC.

Armin Schwarz finished 5th overall with Škoda Octavia WRC.

Very good rally I would say. Watch it by yourself and enjoy...
