Tanak leads WRC Arctic Rally Finland 2021 after day one

Hi, friends!

Clean road and later start order position helped two Hyundai guys on the first day of competition in Finland Lapland where we finally had real winter conditions with plenty of snow after last year's almost gravel Swedish event which had to be another snow rally.

Even with this coronavirus pandemic and no spectators allowed on the special stages, rally is going on as planned and everything was just cool on the first day with more or less expected that guys who started later down the order will have some kind of an advantage over the starters who had to clean the road of fresh snow and make the lines which others just had to follow and that was an advantage for them.

So Monte Carlo Rallye winner Seb Ogier and 2nd placed Elfyn Evans were opening for others and the result of that is that Ogier is only 9th overall after day one and Evans only 5th in their Toyota Yaris WRC rally cars.

Tanak already on shakedown showed that he will be the benchmark for others and that was the case on the first day of competition.

The surprise is also 2nd place for Craig Breen in Hyundai i20 WRC but he was always fast on the flowing fast special stages. Later road start order helped him for sure.

Well that was only first day of competition. We have another eight special stages until Sunday and everything can happen.

Remember - to win, you first have to finish.

Let the best win - as always...
