Worst NBA Team Ever: Defining the 2011-2012 Bobcats Worst Season in History & Where they are Today

Expect a couple laughs with this video. You can’t get worse than the 2011-12 Charlotte Bobcats 7-59 (.106) season, defined by the worst free throw, turnover and dunk (attempt) in history were ‘highlights’ for the Bobcats.

I summarized the Bobcats horrific season and explore how Michael Jordan not only helped create the best franchise in history in Chicago, but the worst as owner of the Charlotte Bobcats.

The 2011-12 season will forever be remembered as the Bobcats became and still are are the worst team in history with a 7-59 record (.106).

The season was shortened due to the 2011 NBA Lockout and after 66 games, the Bobcats and their 10.6% winning percentage would surpass the 73’ Philadelphia 76er's 9-73 record with an 11% win rate.

Kemba Walker and Bismark Biyombo were thrown straight into the starting team after the draft which highlighted the lack of depth for the Bobcats.

DeSagana Diop's free throw, Corey Magette's turnover and Matt Carroll's dunk (attempt) summarized their season. Check out the video, you won't regret it.

After missing out on the 1st pick of the 2012 NBA Draft to the New Orleans Hornets, they lost out on the opportunity to draft Anthony Davis.

They picked Michael Kidd Gilchrist at 2nd and ‘blew’ the pick, when you consider that Bradley Beal (3rd), Damian Lillard (6th) and Andre Drummond (9th) were all still on the board when the Bobcats picked.

The Bobcats would make the playoffs in 2013-14, their final season before a name change to the Hornets. They were swept by the Miami Heat in the first round of the playoffs.

Apart from a 48-34 record in 2014-15 and making the playoffs - losing to the Heat in 7-games - Charlotte have been in the wilderness.

It continues to baffle me how Michael Jordan doesn’t have the leverage to stack his franchise with talent, which he seems to have a hard time trying to evaluate.

His first decision in business to draft Kwame Brown straight out of high school in the 2001 NBA draft, the first high schooler drafted #1 in history sticks out of mind.

He passed up on players like Tyson Chandler, Pau Gasol, Joe Johnson, Gerald Wallace and Tony Parker.

Then 8 years later he would re-sign Emeka Okafar to a six year, $72 million contract and then trade him for Chandler to New Orleans.

Chandler was well past his best and was underachieving.

Jordan must have felt bad for screwing the 01’ draft up and originally passing on Chandler but he simply just doubled down on his mistake.

They’re rebuilding and I like PJ Washington, Devonte Graham, the Martin brothers

They did lose Walker to the Celtics, they’re overpaying Terry Rozier and they sit at 23-42 as we wait to see how the NBA may resume.

Michael Jordan has however proven the doubters wrong. Perhaps in his ‘high school’ days were he failed to make the high school basketball team.

Perhaps better days are a heard and we’ll have to wait and see.
