La temporada 2023/24 abrirá sus puertas la semana que viene, mientras que la ventana de fichajes de verano sigue abierta. Hemos visto transferencias interesantes, con nombres que llaman mucho la atención. Por ende, esperamos que haya cambios en estrategias, afianzamiento de otras y aumento en la calidad de juego que veremos desde la mismísima jornada 1. Acompáñame a comentar algunos de los aspectos sobresalientes que nos deja el calendario de ésta temporada.

OTRA VEZ EN LO MÁS ALTO

Leicester, Leeds United y Southampton dejaron tres vacantes en la mejor liga del mundo, y los mejores postores para tomarlos fueron el Burnley, Luton Town y el Sheffield United. Destaca la labor del Burnley, ya que su entrenador novato Vincent Kompanyllevó a ésta plantilla de nuevo a la Premier League, logrando que su ausencia fuera muy corta. Sólo perdió tres encuentros y logró sacar 10 puntos de diferencia sobre su más cercano perseguidor, siendo un equipo contundente. A su vez, el segundo, Sheffield United, logró una diferencia de 11 puntos sobre el tercero. Hay buenas sensaciones para éstos equipos que se integran, tratando de sacar partido de aquellas estrellas que estarán en período de adaptación en sus nuevos equipos.

INICIO DESLUMBRANTE

Puedes contar con los dedos de una mano las jornadas que no tienen enfrentamientos entre equipos grandes de la Premier League. Eso es un claro indicio del nivel que muestra esta liga y lo que estaremos viendo cada fin de semana y algunas jornadas entre semana. ¿Qué te parece éste cotejo en plena jornada inaugural?: Chelsea - Liverpool. No esperaremos mucho para ver un gran enfrentamiento.

Apenas en la jornada 2 tendremos otra jornada pesada, con dos derbies de Londres, entre West Ham-Chelsea y el Crystal Palace-Arsenal. Pero los platos fuertes será la visita de los diablos rojos a la casa de los spurs en Londres, y también las urracas les tocará recibir a los ciudadanos. Y antes de que termine el mes de agosto veremos un segundo examen difícil de los monocromáticos, cuando les toque recibir a los reds.

UN 2023 SIN PARÓN

Septiembre será particularmente intersante para el Arsenal, en vista de que tendrá que enfrentar al Manchester United, a un Everton que se ha lavado la cara y posteriormente al Tottenham en uno de los derbies más vistosos. Los gunners han fichado nombres de alto nivel, como Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, Albert Lokonga y Nuno Tavares. Para demostrar de que lo que sucedio en la temporada anterior no fue casualidad, tendrá que aprovechar el amanecer de la temporada para fijar posición en éste mes crucial, con rivales que podrían ser directos en alcanzar lo alto de la tabla.

Octubre pondremos la atención en el campeón, el Manchester City. Serán cuatro jornadas, donde les tocará enfrentar al ordenado Wolverhampton primeramente, para luego visitar en la capital al Arsenal, y entonces llegará el turno de recibir a los de De Zerbi, uno de los equipos que mantuvo un alto nivel en la 2022/23. De hecho, sólo pudieron ganarle una vez en esa ocasión, pactando un empate en el segundo encuentro. El mes terminará con el atractivo derby de Manchester, ésta vez en el Old Trafford.

Habrá derbies en éste mes también. En Londres, veremos el Chelsea-Arsenal (que será la vuelta de Kai Havertz al Stanford Bridge), Tottenham-Fulham y Fulham-Chelsea. El de Merseyside también llegará en la jornada 9, teniendo el Anfield como escenario. Por último, el Totthenham le tocará también recibir al Liverpool en la jornada 7.

Noviembre tendrá sólo tres jornadas, pero será particularmente difícil para un joven Chelsea que no sabemos en qué lugar de la tabla estará a éstas alturas del torneo. Sus tres rivales serán Tottenham (de visitante), Manchester City (de local) y el Newcastle (de local). El Chelsea no perdió en la pretemporada que hicieron. Se nota la influencia del nuevo técnico argentino. En su tercer capítulo en la Premier League su misión no es sencilla: comandar a una de las plantillas más jóvenes y tratar de que logren amalgamarse, trabajar en unidad y explotar el talento que supuestamente tienen, justificando la cantidad de ceros en los cheques. El segundo partido mencionado significará la vuelta de Kovacic a su anterior equipo, pendiente con éste dato.

También, tendremos cotejos muy pesados: Newcastle-Arsenal y un Manchester City-Liverpool, quien a estas alturas sabremos si tendremos un Liverpool del 2022 o del 2023.

EL MES MÁS INTENSO Y EXTENSO

Diciembre tendrá siete jornadas. Ya sabemos que la tradición en Inglaterra con la navidad está bien definida, pero también lo está esa cultura futbolística que no se detiene. Las grandes asistencias en los estadios se verán en éste festivo mes, y muchos niños en la tribuna. Esto es parte de las razones del por qué tendremos un interesante mes de diciembre.

La jornada 14 tendrá el Manchester City-Tottenham y un Newcastle-Manchester United que de seguro habrá algo en juego. Luego de esa dura visita, los diablos rojos volverán a casa para recibir al Chelsea. Ya en la jornada 16 el Tottenham se medirá al Newcastle. En la 17, ¡el derby de Inglaterra!: Liverpool-Manchester United. En caso del primero, se quedará en casa para recibir al Arsenal.

El Boxing Day será algo ligero. Los dos recién ascendidos buscarán aprovechar la oportunidad para sacarse puntos entre sí y mantenerse en zona segura. Sheffield-Luton Town será el duelo. Todos los equipos grandes tendrán rivales más accesibles o de mediana calidad. Esta jornada marcará el meridiano del torneo, el cual tendrá un capitulo más antes que suenen los fuegos artificiales. El 30 de diciembre tendremos la jornada 20, donde destaca el Liverpool-Newcastle, de modo que ambos tendrán sus encuentros éste mismo año. También, el derby de Londres entre Fulham-Arsenal tendrá su segundo round en 2023.

LA JORNADA MÁS INTERESANTE

Tenía algunos años que no sucedía, pero en ésta oportunidad tendremos una pausa de al menos 15 días en los partidos de la liga. La acción se retomará el 13 de enero en lo que, a mi juicio, es la jornada más atrayente, no sólo por la intriga que deja las posiciones en la tabla a esas alturas, con el deseo de los equipo de mejorarlas o mantenerlas. Además, empezará la FA Cup y los que se mantengan en competición europea estarán pensando en sus rivales. De seguro habrán algunos traspasos y estaremos deseosos de verlos en acción. Todo eso es lo que estará rodeando a los potentes nombres que verán acción en esa jornada 21: Manchester United-Tottenham y el Newcastle-Manchester City son los nombres que más destacan. También habrá dos derbies en Londres: Arsenal-Crystal Palace y Chelsea-Fulham. ¡Vaya reanudación de la temporada!

2024 LAS ESTRELLAS SE MANTENDRÁN BRILLANDO Y OTRAS CAERÁN.

Luego del Liverpool-Chelsea verá la luz el mes de Febrero, empezando con la visita de esos primeros al Emirates Stadium. Mientras que el 17 de ese mes tendremos un rocoso Manchester City-Chelsea. Luego de éste examen, los blues tendrán que asumir otro derby londinense ante los spurs. También, el Arsenal medirá fuerzas ante el Newcastle. ¿Se fijaron en la combinación que tienen todos éstos buenos nombres? En un mes donde pudieran estar en competición continental (excepto el Chelsea, que no saldrá de los límites del Reino Unido) éstos duelos agregan preparación adicional y contando que la salud los acompañe.

Marzo será un mes de derbies. Derby de Manchester en el Etihad el 02 del mes. Varios derbies en Londres, como el Arsenal-Chelsea, Tottenham-Crystal Palace y Fulham-Tottenham. El derby de Merseyside en Goodinson Park. Aunado a eso, miren éstos nombres: Chelsea-Newcastle y Liverpool Manchester City en la jornada 28. Y antes de terminar el vistoso mes de marzo tendremos ciudadanos versus gunners.

Abril tiene cinco jornadas, siendo el segundo mayor número en éste aspecto, por eso, será un mes para que algunos pongan el pie en el acelerador. También, algunos entrenadores que pudieran entrar a salvar las papas deberán estar comprometidos y aprovechar cada cartucho en buenos disparos. Mason Mount volverá a pisar el engramado en el que una vez Frank Lampard confió en él, y en el que una vez soño en quedarse hasta su retiro del fútbol. Pero ahora llegará con una camiseta roja en el Chelsea-Manchester United. Los diablos rojos luego tendrán que enfrentarse al Liverpool. El Tottenham tendrá que mantenerse despierto en éste importante tramo, porque sus rivales incluyen al Newcastle, Manchester City y Arsenal.

UN SUAVE ATERRIZAJE

¿Estará todo dicho en el mes de mayo? ¿Servirá de algo el derby de Londres entre Chelsea-West Ham? ¿Buscarán algo los spurs cuando visiten Anfield? Lo cierto es que la jornada 38 terminará con los equipos grandes midiéndose a rivales que, en los papeles, figuran con menos calidad y que estén a mitad de tabla y en zona de descenso. Será un intersante final para una brillante temporada.

The 2023/24 season will open its doors next week, while the summer transfer window is still open. We have seen some interesting transfers, with names attracting a lot of attention. AGAIN AT THE TOP

You can count on the fingers of one hand the matchdays that have no clashes between big teams in the Premier League. This is a clear indication of the level of this league and what we will be seeing every weekend and some midweek games. What do you think of this match in the middle of the opening day? Chelsea - Liverpool. We won't be waiting long to see a great clash.

Just on Matchday 2 we will have another heavy matchday, with two London derbies, between West Ham-Chelsea and Crystal Palace-Arsenal. But the highlights will be the visit of the Red Devils to Spurs' London home, and the Magpies will also host the Citizens. And before the end of August, we will see a second difficult test for the monochromatic team, when they host the Reds.

A 2023 WITHOUT A BREAK

September will be particularly interesting for Arsenal, as they will have to face Manchester United, a revitalized Everton and then Tottenham in one of the most exciting derbies. The Gunners have signed high-profile names such as Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, Albert Lokonga and Nuno Tavares. There will be derbies in this month as well. In London, we will see Chelsea-Arsenal (which will be the return of Kai Havertz to Stanford Bridge), Tottenham-Fulham and Fulham-Chelsea. The Merseyside game will also take place on matchday 9, with Anfield as the venue. Finally, Tottenham will also host Liverpool on matchday 7.

November will have only three matchdays, but it will be particularly difficult for a young Chelsea who we do not know where they will be in the table at this stage of the tournament. Their three opponents will be Tottenham (away), Manchester City (home) and Newcastle (home). Chelsea did not lose in their preseason. The influence of the new Argentine coach is noticeable. In his third chapter in the Premier League his mission is not simple: to command one of the youngest squads and try to get them to amalgamate, work as a unit and exploit the talent they supposedly have, justifying the amount of zeros in their paychecks. The second match mentioned above will mean the return of Kovacic to his former team, so keep an eye on this one.

Also, we will have very heavy matches: Newcastle-Arsenal and Manchester City-Liverpool, who at this point will know if we will have a Liverpool of 2022 or 2023.

THE MOST INTENSE AND EXTENSIVE MONTH

December will have seven matchdays. We already know that the tradition in England with Christmas is well defined, but so is that soccer culture that does not stop. Large attendances in the stadiums will be seen in this festive month, and many children in the stands. This is part of the reason why we will have an interesting month of December.

Matchday 14 will feature Manchester City-Tottenham and a Newcastle-Manchester United game that is sure to have something at stake. After that tough visit, the Red Devils will return home to host Chelsea. On matchday 16, Tottenham will face Newcastle. On matchday 17, the English derby: Liverpool-Manchester United. In the case of the former, they will stay at home to host Arsenal.

Boxing Day will be a little light. The two newly promoted teams will be looking to take advantage of the opportunity to take points off each other and stay in the safe zone. Sheffield-Luton Town will be the duel. All the big teams will have more accessible or medium quality opponents. This matchday will mark the meridian of the tournament, which will have one more chapter before the fireworks sound. On December 30 we will have the 20th matchday, where the Liverpool-Newcastle match will be played, so both will have their matches this year. Also, the London derby between Fulham-Arsenal will have its second round in 2023.

THE MOST INTERESTING MATCHDAY

It has been a few years since this happened, but this time we will have a break of at least 15 days in the league matches. The action will resume on January 13 in what, in my opinion, is the most attractive match day, not only because of the intrigue that the positions in the table leave at that point, with the desire of the teams to improve or maintain them. In addition, the FA Cup will start and those who remain in European competition will be thinking about their rivals. There are bound to be some transfers and we will be eager to see them in action. All that will be surrounding the powerful names that will see action on matchday 21: Manchester United-Tottenham and Newcastle-Manchester City are the names that stand out the most. There will also be two derbies in London: Arsenal-Crystal Palace and Chelsea-Fulham. What a restart to the season!

2024 STARS WILL KEEP SHINING AND OTHERS WILL FALL.

After Liverpool-Chelsea we will see the month of February, starting with the visit of those first ones to the Emirates Stadium. While on the 17th of that month we will have a rocky Manchester City-Chelsea. After this test, the Blues will have to take on another London derby against Spurs. Also, Arsenal will face Newcastle.
