I hear you - cricket definitely divides the room! Yeah, plenty of athletics action and always good value entertainment. I did enjoy the commonwealth games (all sports) and would be great to be there in person… I think Birmingham put on a good show. I think they're trying to add a bit of spice to the Europeans to increase interest (ie. individually, they probably don't get so much attention). I thoroughly enjoyed the women's footy, so good on them. Sport can bring people together and you find yourself getting into it when it's engaging. It does seem relentless at the moment, so it might go a bit quieter when things settle down…

As someone who runs for fun I am in awe of what the real athletes can do. They seem super-human, but you may not appreciate it so much just watching on TV. We've been to a few big athletics events and the atmosphere can be amazing. Next Olympics are in Paris, so may have to look into going to that.
