RE: Summer Feast of Sporty Action!

I always say I'm not really into watching sport, but I have quite enjoyed some of these. I saw some of the women's soccer and they seemed pretty good. I don't generally watch footie except for the big championships. We do like athletics in our house, so it's been a good year for that. We went to the Glasgow Commonwealth Games and Birmingham was good too. We nearly went there for the athletics, but it would have been hard to get home due to a lack of late trains.

I don't remember having all these sports in a European Championships before, but it's been good. I'm not really into cricket though.

I hear you - cricket definitely divides the room! Yeah, plenty of athletics action and always good value entertainment. I did enjoy the commonwealth games (all sports) and would be great to be there in person… I think Birmingham put on a good show. I think they're trying to add a bit of spice to the Europeans to increase interest (ie. individually, they probably don't get so much attention). I thoroughly enjoyed the women's footy, so good on them. Sport can bring people together and you find yourself getting into it when it's engaging. It does seem relentless at the moment, so it might go a bit quieter when things settle down…

As someone who runs for fun I am in awe of what the real athletes can do. They seem super-human, but you may not appreciate it so much just watching on TV. We've been to a few big athletics events and the atmosphere can be amazing. Next Olympics are in Paris, so may have to look into going to that.
