The Weekdays Gang Strikes Again

A Farewell

As I mentioned in my previous post, one of our friends will be moving to Canada in the next few days. They already have a full packed schedule until then, so we decided to meet in Dubai so they do not have to come all the way to Abu Dhabi. Since there's only two of us from Abu Dhabi, we were the ones who drove up there.

We met in Dubai Mall for lunch at around 1pm. It took a bit of walking around until we found the restaurant. Dubai Mall is so huge that we literally needed the map to find the restaurant.

The food was great -- it was worth all the driving and walking just to get here.

There was so much laughter as we reminisced and poked fun at each other. It's been a while since the Weekday Gang is complete like this. Sadly, this meeting was the last for now. We don't know when we will be meeting like this as a complete group again.

Of course, coffee.

We then proceeded to Dubai Festival City to have coffee in one of the hotels there. We hung out until it was 5.30pm and the restaurant bar our other friend wanted to spend Happy Hours in was open.

Again, more laughter as we poked fun of our friend who is undeniably the best cook among us, she was banned to cook adobo by her British husband because of her 1 cup soy sauce: 1 cup vinegar ratio of the sauce, for 2 pieces of chicken thighs. Lol.

We quizzed her on her method of cooking and the ingredients she uses for some of the known Filipino dishes like sinigang. It was so hilarious that we really wanted to start her own cooking show. 😆

Happy Hour, Ladies Night, and the Sweet Goodbye

We went up to Joe's Backyard just in time for the Happy Hour. Our "chef" friend made sure we (or she) gets the most value for it. Drinks flooded our table. She was upset we wouldn't drink with her, for all valid reasons -- I needed to drive back to AUH, the other one with me isn't really a drinker, our friend's wife is trying to conceive.

She was so eager to make us drink, she was willing to order a "SafeDriver" for us and made arrangements for a sleepover at our other friend's house. 🙄

I told her that next time she has to prepare us if she has plans of getting drunk so we can let our husbands know in advance that we won't come home that night. 🤪 Because of that, I think we already have set our next drinking session. Lol.

Hours had passed, and it was time to wrap the night. We each said our message to our couple friends. It was bittersweet, but life goes on. We can only wish them well in their new endeavor and hope to see each other again someday.

Regardless, the friendship bond we made in the past 10 years is strong that no distance can break. This is not really a goodbye, but just "see-you-someday".
