July 25 2022 - Camping day one 🏕
Today I went on camp. We are down near Chatham in Kent for a week with my youth group where I volunteer as an adult leader.
For me, camping means my hammock. I find it more comfortable than a tent. It is surprising comfortable. Actually, I was too hot at night and had to sleep on top of my sleeping bag for the first few hours.
The only problem with the hammock is having somewhere to store stuff but we have loads of us on camp so plenty of tents for that.
It rained hard in the night but I didn't even notice.

I totally agree, a hammock is fantastic to sleep in, I have one myself (Ticket To The Moon), and with an all enveloping insect net, I don't have your trouble with packing though as it's big enough for me to tie my 65 liter backpack above my head, and tie my shoes below my feet, all inside the hammock and insect netting, have an awesome day and stay !ALIVE

That's great. Mine is a Hennessy. It's very comfortable and pack's small and light weight. I can put it up very quickly too. I have slept out in quite cold weather and heavy rain and thunder. All good. Just the storage but there are always solutions.

Henessy is great, I looked at one before buying the one I have, what made the decision was the extra space, and at no tangible difference in weight either.

I like the Hennessy because it's so easy to put up. I often end up pitching at night when it's dark and I am tired because I have to sort all the young people out first.
It's also really comfortable. This camp is for 6 nights and I get a good night's sleep.

Wonderful idea! Yes insects can be a big problem sleeping outside.
On a different subject, did you know that according to the Daily Mirror newspaper Chatham is the 'slobbiest town' in England. Have you been to the town to see?
