Season 80 Strategy

Legion FC started the season 80 campaign in League 2. My original strategy was to keep the payroll down and try to finish in the mid to top of the table while increasing my fans. I was pretty close to making a push to League 1, but not quite there. Then, I ran off an 11 match win streak which changed everything. I went out and picked up a few veterans to strengthen the squad and see if I could put together a winning squad. I didn't go all-in on this season, but I certainly was more aggressive with my salary spending than I have been in previous seasons.

Season 80 Results

We finished 3rd in the table for season 80. That was a solid finish. I was hoping to ride the early win streak to a 1st or 2nd place finish, but I realistically didn't add enough firepower to the roster to win the league. There was some intense competition at the top. I am very happy with a top 3 finish.

We increased about 79k fans, which is significantly more than the 34k fan increase last season. The investment in a better squad definitely paid off. The increase in fans also led to a 4% increase in stadium utilization. We will see what that means in the income report below. I think this justifies more spending on salary in the future.

Season 80 Financial Results

After an investment in some scouting that is not represented in the screenshots, we ended up with a net income of about 1.1m RBN for the year. That is a solid financial result given the 3rd place finish and increase in salary expense for the year.

Revenue increased by a little over 400k RBN. Visitor income was up almost 300k, which is the biggest factor. A good season and increase of fans really paid off. We continue to have solid earnings even with a better squad on the pitch.

I'm overall happy with the financial results of the team. Especially when you add in the 0.176 Hive bonus that was paid out to the owner. I'm interested to see what a League 1 bonus would be. I'm determined to find out soon.

Facilities Update

As I said in the strategy section, I am trying to grow my fanbase to grow into my infrastructure. The focus is starting to switch to winning, which should only increase the growth of my infrastructure and fans. Stadium capacity is up to 72%, which is still pretty low. The high growth in fans should help those numbers increase. We are still profitable and revenue is steadily increasing over time.

Squad

We picked up 3 mid season signings in season 80 to bolster the squad. We were unlucky with some injuries that prevented us from having our best lineup, but that is something every team has to deal with. The season 81 squad is still pretty young. We have a few players not on rookie contracts to help increase our skill level. I may add a few more during this season if all goes well. Our defense should be pretty strong this season.

Season 81 Strategy

I'm going to start being a little more aggressive. I think we have the financial backing to field a top 5 team every season while still earning a small amount of RBN. I'm trying to build up some young players and add a few pieces that will help compete for a championship. I don't expect to go up to League 1 in the next few seasons, but I'm putting together a squad that is good enough I wouldn't be surprised if it happens. If we aren't making progress in the next few seasons then I may be willing to go into the red on finances to compete for a promotion.
