Escaping the Heatwave: 12km of Sanity
The past few days felt like Mother Nature turned the thermostat to “hell” and then walked away. 40-42°C? Walking outside would’ve been sadomasochistic. And I didn’t even have the excuse of trying—I was so buried in work I barely noticed the heatwave (though my coffee did turn lukewarm instantly).
Today, mercifully, the temperature dropped to a balmy 28°C. Suddenly, walking wasn’t a death wish anymore. Two walks later, I logged 12km and 15,000 steps. Not bad for someone who spent the week chained to a desk.
The canal rewarded me with gorgeous light, shimmering reflections, and even a passing barge casually carrying a car like it’s no big deal. Wildflowers leaned into the morning sun, and I swear one tree tried to photobomb my shot.
Lesson? When the weather gives you a break, take it. Sweat less. Stroll more. And bring a camera.
