Forgotten Things, Unforgettable Evening
If today had a soundtrack, it would’ve been a loop of footsteps on stairs, car doors slamming, and the faint mutter of “oh no, I forgot that.”
We started the day packing. Then unpacking. Then realizing we didn’t actually pack what we needed. Cue the driving. Lots of driving. The “let’s go back one more time” kind of driving. By mid-afternoon, I was convinced that half my step count came from running up and down stairs, rescuing items we definitely couldn’t leave behind (spoiler: most of them were mine).
But here’s the thing: every trip, every little hassle, led us here. To this quiet village where the streetlights glow just before nightfall, and the windows radiate a golden warmth against the blue dusk. It feels like the world telling us, “you made it, now exhale.”
Sure, it wasn’t glamorous—today’s fitness came not from a planned workout but from hauling bags, retracing steps, and squeezing in errands. But maybe that’s the point: progress isn’t always dumbbells and gym mats. Sometimes it’s hidden in the chaos of travel days, in the unplanned stair climbs and the repeated “back-and-forths.”
Tonight, we finally rest. Tomorrow, we explore!
