Almost Stayed Dry 😅

Today was one of those days. The kind where the sky can’t make up its mind and you’re constantly second-guessing whether to grab an umbrella or risk it. Between bursts of heavy rain, rattling winds, and a full plate of work, I was ready to write the day off as a lost cause for fresh air.

But then the evening came, and with it, a little pocket of calm. I laced up and decided to just take a few steps around the block, nothing fancy, nothing heroic, just moving. And here’s the funny thing: the world had completely changed.

The streets were still glistening from the rain, the red brick of the buildings glowing against the muted sky. The church spire stood tall, framed perfectly against the clouds as if to remind me that storms pass, but some things stand steady through it all.

Then, as I reached the water, the sunset broke through. It wasn’t one of those blazing fire-in-the-sky sunsets, it was softer, a mix of golden edges and stormy greys. And honestly, it felt more real. Like life itself: a little messy, a little unpredictable, but still carrying its quiet beauty if you’re willing to step outside and notice.

I almost managed to stay dry. Almost. But the steps, the views, and the reminder that a stormy day doesn’t have to mean a stormy evening, that was worth it.
