Not really the start of the week I hoped for with all bets on the 2 matches ended up as losers for -0.52 units as the teams who rotated taking the cup less seriously ended up losing in the end. I do have a bigger bet on Wednesday which I took yesterday already sharing it in the SBC Dicord with the odds having gone down since.
OH Leuven vs Club Brugge
Club Brugge has put priority on the League and the Champions League which makes the cup for them something that is rather annoying that creates extra fatigue which they already clearly am suffering from. I fully do expect rather big rotations today and for sure the 3rd goalkeeper will be in goal as Jackers got injured while Mignolet is left out to prevent a possible injury. The reality for Club is that it hasn't been good enough even though in most of the matches they still managed to take the points and when they get space in the Champions League they can be deadly. That said, in matches where they dropped points in the league they still kind of deserved more. OH Leuven with their new coach Mazzu play all defense luring on the counter and are only really willing to take risks when they fall behind. They do have a capable team and with likely no team relegating this season, I can see them fully putting their mind on this match. I can see a match where Brugge has a lot of rotation with the B-team not good enough against OHL who might be more motivated playing an A-Squad and playing focused defensively. I did take an early bet of 0.595 units on
OH Leuven +1 @ 1.939 which just felt too high given the fact that the cup is no goal for Club Brugge. The odds since moved down to 1.70 which feels more realistic. I also took a 0.081 unit bet on
1st Half Under 1.25 @ 1.793. I might hedge or middle part of the position in-game but at meast right now it looks like it was a good value bet.
Cercle Brugge vs AA Gent
Cercle has been playing better lately but this hasn't resulted in taking the wins and getting out of the bottom region of the standings. This while they were the favorite away against Zulte-Waregem and now at home in the cup against AA Gent. So they have a team that plays ok but remains in a bad results momentum while they are the favorite which is a hard situation to back them. AA Gent is in a dip but I do see them as a team with more potential compared to Cercle. One of their problems is that they too easily give it away on the defensive end. The main question just like in most of these cup matches is how much both teams will rotate. I can see this as a match where both teams kind of go for it with enough space and mistakes defensively for there to be goals. So my lean is on the over but I will wait for potential in-game bets on it.
Antwerp vs Stvv
Antwero took the 'hold-up-win' away against brugge with 0-1 only really defending and getting a bit fortunatle not to get any goals against. This will be the first match of their new coach and I do think he will want to start with the best possible line-up. Stvv is the revelation of the season playing good and being capable to keep things closed defensively. They are now in 4th place and I can see them fully go for playoff 1 attempting to stay in the league with some heavy rotation. So purely on what both teams brought so far I would always side with stvv, but given that it's the cup and there might be rotation with Antwerp having the first match of their new coach I'm staying away and understand why Stvv isn't the favorite. I just stay away./
Union vs Zulte-Waregem
Union has been a team especially at home who have covered their asian handicaps even though the level of play they brought hasn't always been that good. Last weekend, they lost away against Anderlecht and did not play a good match clearly having some fatigue from the European Match. The question for them also is how seriously they will take this. The same thing can be said about Zulte-Waregem who are still within range of playoff 1 and might see that as a goal. So final line-ups here also will make a lot clear. I do lean on Zulte-Waregem as the underdog.
