Belgian League 2023-2024 | Weekly News & Transfers Roundup

I'm trying to keep up to date with all the transfer news happening in the Belgian League during the summer bringing weekly reports on it with an eye on beating the Betting Market in the 2023-2024 Season once again ...

I have highly enjoyed the Sorare Fantasy Football NFT Play2Earn game last season and can recommend it to everyone who is a football fan and watches many matches as it certainly gives them an added dimension. I'm also using the transfer window to possibly pick up some good deals along the way.

The transfer window pretty much is in full force with all teams looking to properly build their squad for the new season.

Biggest News & Transfers So Far...

Anderlecht

Verbruggen officially left to Brighton & Hove for 20 Million goving Anderlecht the funds to make some needed transfer. The first one seems to be Striker Dolberg for 6 Million which feels like a big gamble as he hasn't succeeded after leaving Ajax for 20 Million a couple of years ago at 3 different teams. While the deal is not yet 100% official, everything points toward this being their first transfer

Union

Union officially have their new coach with Belssin who impressed a couple years back when he coached Oostende. He stands for a Pressing-style game so it likely will take some time of adjustment. The rest of theirs staff stays on though

Standard

Standard went out of their way to get Defener Vanheusden back. He for sure is a player with quality but injury issues and was loaned out without that much success the past seasons by Inter Milan right now going back to Standard for a transfer sum lower compared to what they paid but still quite a high price for a club like Standard.

Kv Kortrijk

They officially have their new coach with Edward Still. It also looks like the buy-out of the team has gone wrong somewhere so they are still with their old owner Vincent Tan who has to start over trying to find someone. All this makes they way behind in the transfer window with a lot of work left to do as the season is quickly approaching. It's not unthinkable for them to miss their start.

AA Gent

AA Gent has been looking for an investor to overtake the team for a while and it looks like they found one with the Belgian Investor Sam Baro who will pay 7.7 Million to buy out all stock-holders. It is said that he will have an extra 21 Million to invest into the team so this might give AA Gent some room to actually be competitive this season

Probably a lot more transfers the coming week as the practice matches also are getting started with about a month left before the start of the new season.
