Things pretty much went as planned on Saturday and it feels like I started the new season in a good flow, and I'm having a ton of fun with it, even though some of the matches were rather boring. It's an interesting fact this year that there will likely be no team that relegates, as only the last needs to play against a 2nd division team. So this might bring about less nerves and more goal over the course of the season but this doesn't seem to be the case now as nobody wants to take a bad start. 4 matches again this season always on Sunday...

Anderlecht vs Westerlo

Anderlecht already played a match in Europe which ws underwhelming as they only closely won with a 1-0 score against Hacken. Right now, it looks like they are not fully ready yet and the same issues of last year are still very much in place. This makes them a team for me who can either have a good day and easily win or lose outright against anyone. Hasi is a more defensive coach and it looks like they have that part pretty well in place. Dolberg is questionable and they have a coupleof injured players along with some that might be eying a transfer still. Westerlo last season had good potential but they took goals way too easily always in a stupid way. They have a new coach in Charai and it remains to be seen how he will play. The defense for sure will be a key aspect he wants to fix. Right now, they more or less have the same team as last year only really Vuskovic gone and Bos while others are likely still to leave. I don't expect this to be a wide open match from the start as Anderlecht should be good defensively while the new coach of Westerlo likely will put importance on Defense first. I took an initial 0.35 unit position on 1st Half Under 1 @ 2.495 which just feels too high with likely an option along the way to reduce exposure and maybe guarantee some profit if there is no early goal. I also don't see Westerlo without chance and took 0.05 units on Westerlo +0 @ 3.674 & 0.1 unit on Westerlo +0.75 @ 1.967 given how hig Charleroi lost that one in their European match.

OHL vs Charleroi

OHL was a grey team last year with a ton of draws and very uninspired play despote the fact that they should have a capable squad. Their coach was rightfully changed and it remains to be seen what Hubert will be able to do with this team. They aren't fully ready yet and certainly will need to grow along the way but overall should have a team that avoids the playdown spots and might even become one of the surprises. Charleroi is in a year of confirmation which might get extra hard because they can qualify in Europe, while they also lost their 2 best players who are key to the team in Zorgane and Heymans. Some other key players also still might leave and they had a mid-week match against Hammarby which stayed 0-0 but where stats were against them also losing 11-0 on the corners. I took a cautios 0.2 unit bet on OH Leuven +0.25 @ 1.806 given that they play at home, have the 'coach change effect' while Charleroi will miss Heymands and Zorgane and the group has to split the focus between the league and Europe which they are not used to. I also took 0.2 units on OHL +0 Corners @ 1.981.

Club Brugge vs Racing Genk

Brugge looked more or less ready during the super cup but are for sure not yet in their best form. They are weakened compared to last season now as they will miss De Cuyper, Jutgla, Talbi, & most of all Jashari while Nilnsson and Sabbe are injured. Genk last season was one of the better teams in the regular Season because they had no European duties. They ended the regular Season first but kind of collapses last year which started in the away match against Club Brugge. So I would say this possibly is a revenge spot for Genk similar to how Brugge had a revenge spot in the Super Cup. The question however is how far ahead Club Brugge right now still are as they clearly were a couple of months ago. Club Brugge has also been a team that play good 1st halves while not really pushing and falling back when they are in the lead. I'm leaning toward Genk +1 if the odds would get above 1.80 or Genk in case they would fall behind and still be the +0.5 underdog. I also thing Genk should be able to score as they have enough offensive quality. I do need at least 1.8+ odds though on a Over 0.75 line and it's just below that now. So No Pre-Game Bets

Sint-Truiden vs AA Gent

Stvv last season started really poorly as they were not ready yet and had many players who left.However, this year they start with a good coach and should be ready still with many of the same players on board and with Seboaui. I generally expect a better season from Stvv. AA Gent has been in a downfall for some years and they attracted Leko which should be a good coach for them as he showed that he's very much capable to get the best out of a team. By nature he's an offensive coach but in Standard he fully turned the ship to extreme defense since that was the only real way for that team to take points. So the main question now is if Gent will be good enough to be an offensive team as they also overall lack quality and don't seem fully ready. Leko already cried out to get new players as only really Kanga is new and should be an enforcement. So Gent for me right now for me is much more questionable compared to Stvv and I hesitated to take the bit that was available early on when they opened as the underdog. Right now they switched to the favorite which is about right. I would think this becomes an open match but I'm far from sure of it at a line set around 3. So I'm going into this one with a lean on Stvv which I won't be able to take if they are better as that pushes odds down more. The over however might be a bet that I do take in-game.
