Friday was another slightly profitable day and it feels like I'm in a zone again where I'm very cautious on both the amount if bets and the stakes with the result that everything ends up being right. I will try to ramp it up a bit but I'm also not going to go crazy.
Genk vs Kortrijk
Genk remains a solid team that is able to also produce results now with 8 wins and 1 draw in their last 9 matches. They however have not been as impressive lately compared to the start of the season while the lines are getting a lot heavier. Last week against Oostende they only took a narrow win late in the match which was quite flattering as they had possession but the danger they created was limited. Kortrijk took a much needed surprise win last week against Antwerp at home with a 2-1 score. What mostly stood out in that match was their coach Custovic putting up an offensive line up and the players were really willing to go for it. Kortrijk despite being in 14th place also have done quite well away from home against their handicaps going 4W-1M-0P. This is expected to turn out into an open match based on how Kortrijk played last week and Genk who have a style where they are also willing to go forward at the cost of getting goals against. A possible scenario in this match is that Genk just blows away Kortrijk, but based on the most recent match and the overall valuations of the teams I cautiously split bets between
Kortrijk +1.75 @ 1.997 (0.1 unit) /
Both To Score @ 1.742 (0.1 unit) with an eye to take more in-game or take a bit more if Kortrijk +2 would hit 1.80+ odds. Genk never had fewer than 10 corners in their home matches while Kortrijk averaged 12.8 corners in their last 6 matches so that is also something I will keep an eye on.
Seraing vs Oostende
This match is a direct relegation duel which usually tend to result in very nervous matches. I see Seraing right now ranked above their quality as it's a small miracle how many goals they managed to score expecially in away games. Oostende on the other hand I don't see fully rewarded for the quality they have brought so far. Oostende so far ranks 5th in the 1H away rankings while Seraing ranks 2nd last at home in the 1H rankings. I'm just went for a straightforward 0.4 unit bet on
Oostende 1st Half +0 @ 1.813 as I see them as the better team in this matchup.
Zulte-Waregem vs OH Leuven
Zulte-Waregem is the team that is getting the maximum pain now as they are in last place mixing ok performances like the one in the match last week against Westerlo and really bad matches like the one against Stvv in all of them failing to take points. OHL started the season great but also overperformed and they now look into some regression to the mean with a loss and a draw in their previous 2 matches also not playing that great. Fundamentally I see OHL as the team with the most quality but I do expect Zulte to bring a lot of energy today. OLH in their last 3 away matches combined went 32 corners against and 6 for so there is a huge gap there and I can see some potential live betting action on Zulte Corners even though they are not the greatest corner team themselves. Aside from that I can see the match going either way and it also could turn into a goal fest or a 0-0 draw so I'm just going to stay away for now. The most likely scenario I see is Zulte-Waregem being the better team bringing more intensity but in the end OHL winning.
No Pre-Game Bets
Club Brugge vs Westerlo
Club Brugge continues to impress in Europe and they remain a team in the Belgian team that starts to resemble Bayern in the Bundesliga in terms of budget and quality they have available. So right now there is nothing in me that wants to oppose them especially since their handicap lines are not that heavy (yet). The main question today is how well they handle the Champions League match and how well the players that come in from the bench perform. They do have enough quality to field 2 teams but rotation and fatigue nearly always weigh on a team one way or another. Westerlo has performed ok and after 3 wins in a row (all against weak teams) they now climbed up to 7th place. However, they tend to perform much better at home compared to away games (4W-1L at home / 1W-3.5L away both against the Asian handicap). Overall, Club Brugge is a team that I'm willing to back blindly right now even in between European matches with them having some rotation as the quality difference is just too big and their lines don't feel adjusted enough. Taking Club at really high hadicaps and high odds also is a valid option right now. I took 0.2 units on
Club Brugge -1 @ 1.976 and also 0.05 units on
Club Brugge -2 @ 4.147. Westerlo is also a team that is willing to play forward and they average 4.4 goals on the road. I can easily see goals in this match and also took 0.2 units on
