While the main pre-game bet yesterday lost half deserved, it still was a pretty great day putting me at over a full unit of profi this week with 4 more matches to go. I'm having a ton of fun with it still and look forward to Sunday trying to keep up the good momentum.
Cercle Brugge vs Genk
The main angle on this match is Genk who systematically are giving way too many big chances away. In their last match against Dender who are rock bottom when it comes down to xg which was around 0.50 on average, they gave away a whopping 1.76xg with just big chance after big chance on counters. Somehow, Genk still managed to win 2-1 as they created 1.85xg themselves. The Genk goalkeeper was the best player on the team. So things really have to change for Genk as playing this style is a guarantee for disaster and the big question is if their coach will adjust. I still see Genk as a team who potentially could blow out anyone but at the same time they also can get 3+ goals against against any given opponent. My main fear to take a bet on the over is that their coach will overly adjust and start putting more focus on the defensive end. Cercle Brugge is a team that has shown to be able to put up ok performances but in the last 2 matches they got tired at the end and were not able to convert a good 1st half into a win. Based on the last 4 weeks, Cercle Brugge is 2nd in created xg while they are 4th last in xg against. I had a small lean on the over but the odds came down so I will wait to see what the line-ups and the in-game picture will be before potentially taking an over bet. I also have a small lean on the corners over as I don't see it as a cautious match with mainly midfield play. For now,

Dender vs Kv Mechelen
Dender still is dead last in the standings but finally showed some signs that they have capabilities to score agaist Genk. The question though is if this was mainly because of the opponent who played very naive so until they confirm I go with the asumption that they are still a very low xg team. All 5 1st halves in their home matchs so far ended in a 0-0 draw while Mechelen so far had only 2 matches in their season out of 10 where the total went over 1 in the 1st half. Just based on thos stats, I took a 0.3 unit bet on
1st Half Under 1 @ 2.060. Mechelen in their last match played horribly at home against Stvv while the week before, they played an ok match away against Charleroi winning 0-2 as they were efficient on the counter. This feels like a match where both Dender could get their first win of the season or Mechelen bouncing back after a poor performance against Charleroi. I just stick with the 1H Under option for now. Mechelen tends to be very high on corners but Dender on the other hand is a low corners team.
Sint-Truiden vs Anderlecht
It is a mall miracle to see Anderlecht in 3rd place as it feels like almost all the goals they score somehow involve some luck. They seem capable on the defensive end with a rather defensive-minded coach but lack finishing power with no real 1st striker as Vasquez dissaponts systematically. Stvv left a good impression in their last match agaist Mechelen and also the week before against Genk where I made the notes to possibly back Stvv as the underdog. They managed to climb to a 5th place in the standings, just 1 point below Anderlecht. I can't say I'm overly comfortable to back stvv but I did taoe 0.2 units on them as the home underdog on an artificial pitch

Zulte-Waregem vs AA Gent
AA Gent is a team I see as potentially much better compared to how they are valued on the market which got me to back they systematically for a while now. This worked out great in the results but not always as much in the actual performances. Zulte-Waregem is safe in 8th place with 14 points and are with 3 wins and 1 draw in their last 4 matches. These were played against La Louviere, Charleroi, Antwerp and OHL so overall the weaker opponents in the league. Their overall performances never really were great though as they took a low risk defensive approach againt La Louviere which resulted in a 0-0. It was also a low risk 2-0 against a poor Antwerp team. A red card helped them passed Charleroi away where they needed a very late 2nd goal for a 1-2 score The win over OHL was also rather flattering. So I do expect a regresion to the mean from Zulte-Waregem at some point. I'm once again backing AA Gent in this match with a 0.3 unit bet on
AA Gent +0 @ 1.939 with the option to add to this position in-game.
