Jupiler League Week 12 Saturday Previews

These are previews from matches involving Belgian Teams with all the latest on team news, player form, and injuries along with my personal betting angles, ...

Some good news yesterday as the corner bets in the Standard match of last week got graded as winners while I took them as a push until now. I also managed to make some profit in the Union Match with the pre-game 1H bet on inter -0.25 which I shared on the SBC Discord. Yesterday ended with a tiny loss on the Anderlecht Match and I'm now heading into the weekend looking forward to the 3 matches on Saturday.

Westerlo vs Dender

Westerlo is a mid-table team that at times plays good but at other times is just too vulnerable on the defensive end. Last week they played against La Louviere who a 3rd time in a row now played a 0-0 draw. They often are a team who start fairly slow but matches regularly turn very wild eventually. Rommens who is an important player is injured. Dender has been a team who actually hasn't played that badly as of late but there is a lack of confidence and they are left still without a win in the season after 11 weeks. They are in a spot where they still can freely go for the win which they need as it's unlikely still that they will relegate at the end. The main switch in trend has been their xg which is at an average of just 0.95 on the season but at 1.54 in their last 4 matches and even 2.33 in their last 2 games. I don't expect Dender to be without chance but at the same time the 1.8+ odds on the home team don't feel too low. I would not be surprised to see a usual slow start of a Westerlo match to see goals in bunches after. I took a tiny 0.08 unit bet for now on Over 3.5 @ 2.720 with an eye to opt in more on the over in-game potentially. I also would not be surprised to see Dender score a goal and am keeping my eye on their team total along with the Both To Score Bet. I have good hopes that this will be an entertaining match.

Kv Mechelen vs OH Leuven

Mechelen in the last 2 matches took a 1-3 win against Dender which mostly came down to effeciency on both ends as Dender who got 2.90xg for failed to finish their chances while Mechelen at just 0.93xg was very efficient. The week before they showed to play more organized but they had a total off day losing 1-3 to Stvv. They are still 4th in the league but some regression to the mean is due even though at times they certainly did not play badly. OHL saw their coach leave and they played their best match of the season with an interim coach at home against Club Brugge eventually losing 0-1 late in the match. They saw one of their better players Schrijvers get injured but they have enough options to replace him. The main difference was that they actually showed a big drive and the question remains if they can also do this away from home today. My idea for this match was to look to back Leuven as potentially a +0.5 underdog but the market seems to have overly caught up as they are now barely an underdog on the DNB Line which makes me lean more toward Mechelen at home which I don't really want to bet also because I get super paranoid on these line movements where the market gives a clear indication. The one statistic on Mechelen matches that keeps standing out is that they are high in corners. OHL under their new interim coach last week was at 15 corners so I was willing to risk 0.260 units on Over 10 Corners @ 1.970. I also think the odds on the high goals total are a bit too high and took 0.1 unit on Over 3.5 @ 3.539

AA Gent vs Standard

AA Gent last week in the last moments was without Kadri, Skoras, & Kanga which are 3 of their best players and it showed as they overall put up a weak performance losing 3-1 against Zulte-Waregem. Their coach was really hard on his own team which I do believe comes from a point where he really believes they have the potential to be good and a sure Playoff 1 team. I've been backing them last month almost systematically with the same impression which overall did turn out with profit. However, the missings and how things went last week and also more or less some of the weeks before despite beating the handicaps makes me now way more cautios. I need to see a good performance from Gent first before I'm willing to back them again. I do expect a focused start but at the same time I'm not sure of the critisism of the coach will have a positive effect and it might paralyze players a bit. Standard eventually took the deserved 1-0 win against a weak Antwerp last week . This is also the only spot where I'm really willing to back a team like Standard. Their coach is doing good work but they are not a team who plays wide open or is able to score freely. The last match they won away against Westerlo was all defense and 100% Finishing. I expect 2 teams who work hard in the 1st half which creates a situation with not too many chances also because AA Gent is missing a lot of quality in offense. AA Gent at home is also at a ratio where 71%+ of the goals come in the 2nd half. So 0.179 units on 1st Half Under 1 @ 2.098. I'm tempted to take some on the AA Gent 1H corners but need to see the early game match picture first to pull the trigger.

Bold bet with the over 3.5! I rarely play those. But hey even when I play over 2.5 goals it turns always out in boring games with a scoreless draw or a dry 1-0!
Good luck

It's mostly risk management, I often prefer lower stakes and high totals as matches with 4+ goals aren't really that uncommon. Historically this has been above 30% of all matches that go over this total. This season it's lagging behind a bit. Westerlo & Mechelen at home also rarely turn into boring matches where nothing happens. I'm looking forward to see how the matches today play out.
