There have been plenty of matches already this week as there was cup football. I did keep the action limited and the stakes really low which was a good thing as I'm down around 0.3 units. However, I remain hopefull wor the weekend with 3 interesting matches on the program today. Here are my views and some bets that I already took...
Zulte-Waregem vs Union SG
Zulte-Waregem so far has done very well as a promoted team both in their play and the number of points they managed to take. I do kind of feel they are starting to believe a bit more which might leave them putting a bit more focus on the offense and less on the defense which might leave them more vulnerable. They had 1.72 & 2.36 xg against in their last 2 matches while they are still 5W-1L-0P against the asian total under. Union is a team where you see it's not as good as last season but despite this and another coach change, they continue winning and covering their handicaps in the league. They also remain one of the best teams when it comes down to low xg against at 0.72 on average. I do expect a start where Union tries to take the cautious initiative while Zulte focuses on the defense and possible counters. both combined are 9W-2.5L-1.5P on the asian under (home/away) which did make me very cautious 0.1 units each on
1st Half Under 1 @ 2.318 &
Under 2.75 @ 2.030. The main reference match for me is zulte vs club which ended in a 1H 0-0 where zulte was comfortable in defense crawling back. For that match, I also took the note 'Zulte at home Under vs Top Team". At the same time, away against top teams they had matches with 5 goals. Tricky match and both teams I kind of am looking to oppose at some point this season. Given the fact that Union remains a solid defensive team I also took 0.2 units on

Club Brugge vs Dender
Club Brugge despite the fact that they are 2nd in the lead just 3 points behind on Union with a 4-game win streak have yet to impress. All 4 of those matches also were won with a 1-goal difference which paints the picture of their performances. They are also 3rd last in xg for in the last 4 matches at just 0.83xg on average. At the same time they don't give much away at just 0.72xg. They played their b-squad aside from Vanaken & Mechelen in the cup which still blew away Aalst with 6-1.Basically, they kind of need a convincing win today and can't really afford another mediocre performance. Dender is still dead last in the standings but they aren't playing that horribly. Also what used to be a team with etxreme low xg who were unable to create anything recently turned into a teal with 1.76 - 2.90 - 1.40 xg created in their matches. They remain a team though who lack confidence and it would be a massive surprise if they came to take points away against Brugge. There are some bets that tempt me, but none of them really have enough to make me take a bet as I rather just wait and see how things look in-game. I can see scenarios where Brugge either dominates or once again dissapoints along with Dender who manages to score or is left without much chances.

Anderlecht vs Kv Mechelen
Anderlecht this season again is in some kind of crisis as the quality of their team simply doesn't match their status from the past. They somehow managed to keep up and take the points earlier in the season but now in the last 4 matches managed to only get 1 win at home against Standard with a 1 goal difference. One of their issues is that they have a hard time to score and never manage to perform for 90 minutes long. A times it looks good what they put on the pitch and defensively they have shown to be capable. It remains a gamble though to bet on them. Mechelen is 1 point ahead of Anderlecht which is also a surprise as they aren't really the team with the highest budget. They generally have put up ok performances with the occasional off-day and they do suffer from quite some injured players. Anderlecht at home has been a team where most goal came in 2nd half at 81%. I can see a scenario where Mechelen locks things down hoping to get a chance on the counter and Anderlecht lacking the quality to really pose a ton of danger. Anderlecht does have Bertaccini back which should be an improvement in the offense. I was comfortable enough to take 0.272 units on
1st Half Under 1.25 @ 1.940 and I will keep it at that for now and see where the match takes me in-game.
