Saturday was a slight profitable day which puts me around break even on the week so far with Sunday yet to go. I do see most betting potential in the Sunday matches though and I'm highly looking forward to all 4 of them!
Antwerp vs Charleroi
Antwerp had a winning streak after their coach change and with the opening of their new standings but things have cooled down away and they aren't really playing that great. Last week, I opposed them as they were the favorite away against Dender and they lost outright. So overall, they are on my list of teams to oppose even though they do have the home advantage factor which should not be fully dismissed. Their last 5 home games went to 3 goals or more even though the combined xg wasn't always that high (2.05 - 4.01 - 1.99 - 2.06 - 2.08. I do think all of their home matches have the potential to get wild though with the fans benhind them. Charleroi has been the hot team of the new year so far putting good performances on the pitch and having the momentum with them. Their main problem used to be scoring goals and they still aren't recording that high xg numbers but there clearly has been improvement. Both have 27 points, are in contention for Playoff 1 and I expect that they are not going to want to settle for the draw. I took rather cautious bets of 0.3 units on
Charerlo +0.25 @ 1.801, 0.123 units on
Charleroi Team Total Over 1 @ 1.860, 0.16 units on
Over 2.25 @ 1.907, 0.1 unit on
Over 3 @ 3.225, 0.04 units on
4.031. I'm keeping the option open to add in-game and am also looking at the over corners as I see both teams willing to go forward while they recently have high corner stats. Antwerp at home averages 11 in their last 5 while Charleroi averages 11.75 in their last 4 away.
Genk vs Cercle Brugge
Genk is in a situation where when they want to play open but doing so leaves them without chance as they are still very vulnerable in defense. When they opt to put more focus on that defense, they fail to create many chances. In the match against a weak Utrecht over the week they won with 0-2 but were quite lucky in the goals they scored. So it's a tricky situation where I kind of want to oppose them but also see their potential if they do get it right. Cercle Brugge had an unfortunate first half of the season but have been reaching a better form and most of all better results as of late with 2 wins and 1 draw in their last 3 games putting them in a position to still escape the playdowns. They still aren't the best scorers and always do get goals against. Genk has got the fatigue factor and I'm tempted to take Cercle as the underdog but the home advantage recmains combined with the fact that Genk is a team that has more quality. I will wait to see the final line-ups and intentions before getting in on this one.
No Pre-Game Bets
Anderlecht vs Dender
Anderleht are without a win in their last 3 matches and lost their last 2 against Gent & Charleroi. Their main issue is that they have been giving a ton of xg against expecially away. They don't seem to have the overall quality to compete with the top teams and Hasi mostly puts drive into his team who are able to bring a lot of drive. I do expect this to be the case today at least at the start of the match. Dender managed to take a deserved 1-0 win last week against Antwerp and are not playing that bad as their standing suggests. I don't think they are without chance today but at the same time, if they lose it very well could be by multiple goals. I do expect a hot start from Anderlecht and for Dender to also get their chances. I only was willing to take 0.12 units on

Mechelen vs Westerlo
Mechelen are still in a playoff 1 Spot but they are bound to drop out unless they start playing better again. They lost last week against a mediocre Union with a 1-0 score, and just lacked belief. The week before, they didn't get further than a 1-1 draw against Dender at home. It remains a home match though and the market has put them as the underdog. Westerlo lost some players in the winter break in particular Rommens who was important as previously when he was out they got in a bad streak. Last week they lost against Cercle Brugge showing not to be good enough against an ok defense. They are only 12th in the standing and too often have off-days or make unneeded mistakes defensively. I took 0.12 units on
Kv Mechelen +0.25 @ 1.806 mostly because I want to oppose Westerlo. It's one of those matches that potentially could see many goals but also to be a boring match with limited danger. I hope to get a better grip on which direction it will go in-game.
