Jupiler League Week 3 Saturday Previews

These are previews from matches involving Belgian Teams with all the latest on team news, player form, and injuries along with my personal betting angles, ...

Form the looks of it, this might become a low volume week as I didn't have all too much action again in the match yesterday and I also won't be able to watch the evening match on Saturday.

Club Brugge vs Cercle Brugge

Club Brugge so far have shown that they aren't yet on the level of last season as the departure of Jashari, De Cuyper, Ordonez, Jutgla, Talbi hasn't really been replaced yet properly. They took a flattering win against Genk and lost against Mechelen where they showed to be vulnerable on the counters. They are also inbetween mid-week Champions Quialifier matches which has priority. They however don't have a massive ability to rotate heavily unless it's with new players who are still adjusting. This said, on paper they still have more than enough quality and an easy blowout win against any Belgian Team would be no surprise. Cercle Brugge only took 1 point with a boring 0-0 draw awat against Dender and a 0-2 loss at home against Anderlecht. Their main weakness has show to be their scoring ability and they generally have looked a bit too weak. New players and investments are needed but in a year where a team can lose every match and win one match against not even the best 2nd division team it's a question how willing they are to do this. Purely based on quality, the home team should always keep the 3 points home but given the fact that they are not 100% ready yet and have focus on the Champions League qualifier, I'm not willing to take a big handicap. I did manage to get in just 0.119 units on Club Brugge -1 @ 1.820 and I'm waiting to see how the match plays out in-game to possibly take something extra.

Westerlo vs Kv Mechelen

Weterlo played a horrible first match away against Anderlecht where they could not handle the high pressure and mistakes in the defense and midfield when they lost the ball always became dangerous. They did manage to set things straight last week at home against Zulte-Waregem after they instantly made the 1-0 which made things easier. My main takeaway is that Westerlo is a team that can't be trusted on Under bets as goals tend to come too easily on both sides. Mechelen took a 1-1 draw away against Zulte and took the surprise home win against Club Brugge. Overall, I still see them as a team that should be near the lower mid-table and continue to look for spots to possibly oppose them. At home they aim to bring all the energy and build a home reputation again while on the road I see them as a more defensive team. they did lose Storm last week. The total line for me is set too high but I'm also not willing to oppose it, Westerlo as the small home favorite looks like a temting choice but I kind of only want to take them at 1.88+ odds on the home DNB line which they are just under. So for now No Pre-Game Bets

AA Gent vs Union SG

AA Gent this season so far took a deserved loss away against stvv showing that they had a hard time to create chances. At home last week, they managed to only win with a 1-0 score against La Louviere who came for the 0-0. Generally it looks like Gent isn't ready just yet. They did bring in some quality with Van Der Heyden and Kadri but it remains to be seen how ready those are and if it all will work out. Union had a difficult 1st week away against Antwerp with only a 1-1 draw even though they missed an early penalty which might have given a totally different match. It also was clear that they weren't fully up to speed yet. However, last week at home they came out flying and demolished OHL with a 5-0 score looking very much like the old Union. So for me, everything at the moment points toward a situation where Union the better team and more ready compared to AA Gent. I took 0.26 units on Union 1H -0.25 @ 1.950 and 0.140 units on Union -0.5 @ 1.820
