There are 3 more weeks to go in the Playoffs starting tonight with a playoff 2 match between Charleroi and Westerlo.

Charleroi vs Westerlo

There are basically only 2 teams left in contention for Playoff 2 which are Charleroi and Westerlo who are 4 points apart which can turn into 1 tonight in case Westerlo wins. This while a win for Charleroi would pretty much seal the deal. It's clear that Charleroi wants to play the final against the playoff 1 team while I can't fully say this with confidence about Westerlo. Charleroi played a boring 0-1 win away against a poor Standard and they won fairly comfortably in their previous home match against Dender despite a good start from the visitors. Westerlo has been one of those teams where a boring 0-0 at halftime still can end in a 4+ goal score. The pattern for Westerlo has been that they don't really start matches that well and get behind still finding some motivation and often making a comeback still as they start to play better. So far in these playoffs they lost all 3 of their 1st half corner matchups away while Charleroi who are 9 on 9 at home won 2 of the 3 home 1st half corners. The one lost was where they took the double lead early on already. I do expect the patterns to continue with Charleroi starting with higher intensity and will to win while Westerlo likely only when they fall behind might start playing better. The odds highly favor Charleroi who on a good day are the better team and they also lean toward the over at a 3.25 total handicap. The 2 bets I have in mind right now are Charleroi 1st half -0.25 and Charleroi 1H corners but odds are just a bit to low for me to take the gamble. I also thing 5.0+ on Westerlo might be worth a shot but I'm skipping it as I don't fully believe they actually want to win Playoff 2. No Pre-Game Bets

Great analysis of the match! I found your comment about how Westerlo usually improves in the second half interesting. Do you think that's due more to the coach's tactical changes or to the players loosening up as the minutes go by? And by the way, thank you very much.

I think it's most likely just a motivational thing, some teams tend to collapse when getting behind, fully crawl back when they take the lead, keep going, ...

For Westerlo it seems that somehow they always start off kind of bad but get motivation and drive out of getting behind, it was again the case yesterday. 1-0 behind which they turned into 1-3 to still lose it with 4-3 in the end.
