It was a solid and fun Friday match that ended in a 4-3 score, crowning Charleroi to the playoff 2 winner (as good as) with all following matches that are played for nothing. 4 Games on Saturday to follow
Beerschot vs Cercle Brugge
This is the final match of the playdowns and Cercle Brugge needs a win in case Stvv doesn't win against Kortrijk and a draw in case Stvv would lose today in their match which is played at the same time. There is no risk for Cercle to lose the 2nd place so the nerves issue that this young group has had in these playdowns might be gone. That really was their issue which resulted in just overall poor play across the line even in matches that they did manage to win. It is not unthinkable for Kortrijk (+0.25 line) to win at home against Stvv so I don't thing Cercle will play all or nothing from the start blindly going forward. The question today will be if they can pick up their level of play against Beerschot who already are relegated. Beerschot if anything managed to keep their motivation at least in their home matches with a 2-0 win against Kortrijk recently. So everything points toward Beerschot not throwing the towel in their last home match in front of their home fans in 1st division. I expect Cercle Brugge to be the team who cautiously will start off taking the initiative but not with good enough form to break the Beerschot defense early on with the home team also going their chance. a good chance that Beerschot will be able to score in this match and BTS is what I have my eye on. In their last home match where they were in the lead against Kortrijk, it ended in a 1-9 corners score and against stvv at home it was a 0-9 corners score. Both the away teams also comfortably won the 1st half corners. I only got in for 0.059 units on

Kortrijk vs Sint-Truiden
So Kortrijk after the loss last week away from home against Beerschot is officially relegated while Stvv has things in their own hands as a win always results in them being safe. The 2 main questions for this match are how motivated Kortijk are and how much nerves Stvv will have. Those will pretty much make up the result of the match. Stvv did take a surprise 0-3 loss at home against Kortrijk but since have a new coach and have started playing better. Both the home matches of Kortrijk ended in 4+ goals with 3-2 & 2-2. I do think they still will want to play but also lack the defensive focus while Stvv should have enough quality offensively to score at least 2. I took an initial 0.2 unit bet on
Stvv Team Total Over 1.5 @ 1.879 and 0.04 units on
Stvv Win & Both To Score @ 3.700 with an eye to increase my position in-game. Stvv should also be willing to go forward and it makes little sense to me for them to be a rather big underdog on the corners especially because it's less likely that they easily will take the lead. Kortrijk had some big corner wins over Beerschot but that was a different team and a completely different situation. At home against circle they lost their corners matchup and so did they last week after getting ahead. I also took 0.105 units on

Kv Mechelen vs Standard
After Charleroi won yesterday, all
hope is pretty much lost for Kv Mechelen who will play at home today against Standard who are haunted by a statistic that they haven't won in the last 27 playoff matches or something like that. So the question today is if Mechelen will be hit with a motivational dip because it's virtually done while Standard might find motivation to put the bad streak to an end. The main difficulty however is that Standard simply have not shown the quality so even if they want to they might not be able. Mechelen is also hit by quite some injuries (Foulon / Touba / Marsa / Vanrafelghem). For me the -1 line on Mechelen is simply too heavy given the situation. Standard also has not lost by more than 1 goal yet in these playoffs and took 4 draws. I did take a cautious 0.16 unit bet on

Anderlecht vs Union SG
Anderlecht had all their hopes on the Cup final which they lost against Club Brugge but they still managed to put up an ok performance. The question now is how much drive they will have today against Union and if they want to Help Brugge also win the title. Generally I don't think any of the rivalies will play a role and they are just going to want to get the best result today with an eye to secure the 4th place where a point might be an ok result. So I don't think they will be the team taking risk to get the win if it's all even late. Union has everything in their own hands with 3 more matches to go and they mainly managed to get results in their matches by making sure everything is locked down defensively while they continue to be very efficient. Today is a match were they need the win so they will have to push at some point and take more risks. I expect they to just start out playing a similar style with focus on defense while making it very annoying for the opponents in the hope that they get one in themselves. If this doesn't happen they will change their gameplay later in the match. I did manage to take a 0.108 unit bet very early on this week on Union +0 @ 1.917 which has come all the way down to the point where it has become tempting to back Anderlecht as I don't expect a walk in the park for the visitors and even an away win would not be that major of a surprise. That said, I still think that Union over 90 minutes once again will find a way to win it so I'm no going to hedge. I feel the handicap and the total is pretty well adjusted in this match,
