dannewton just finished a 16.82km run, that lasted for 107 minutes.
This run helped dannewton burn 1184.0 calories.

Description from Strava: After 4 days off due to xmas it was the first day back at work today. I know lots of other people get more time off, but there are many others (retail/hospitality/nurses) that barely get one day off, so I'm happy with 4.

I was expecting a busy day due to catching up on the 4 days missed, but it wasn't too bad, and we actually managed to finish nearly on time, which was a plus! That meant I had time this evening to get a decent run done.

The past few Wednesdays I've been trying my hand at some speedwork sessions, but today I wasn't really feeling it. Instead I went for some easy zone 2 stuff and headed out for standard bypass route. I think it was general tiredness that put me off the hard interval training (it has been a busy few days!) and I just wanted to get outside and go for a gentle run.

The weather had other ideas though, there was rain around, although at least it wasn't as torrential as it had been for most of the day. The biggest issue was the wind, blowing strongly from the South. This resulted in an easy first half as I meandered North along the route, and a much harder second half as I turned back to run home into a really strong headwind.

I did manage to judge my effort to keep my heart rate mostly within zone 2 so that was a positive to come from it. I was feeling a little windswept by the time I had arrived home though! Other than the wind it was pretty uneventful, 16km, 1 hour 45... Job Done :-)

Tomorrow will be another run, but shorter than todays effort, and then the usual rest day on Friday. Saturday should hopefully be the long run again, but the weather looks appallingly wet first thing on Saturday morning, so I'll keep you posted on that!

About the Athlete: Living in the UK, I am an intermittent Runner, but always striving for more consistency. When I'm not training I can be found photographing insects or listening to really loud angry music (which is the best type of music obviously!)

I’m also one of those who got a long break. I’ve been on break for two weeks and I’d resume next year
I’m glad you enjoyed the run and I wish you a good one tomorrow

Hope the weather wasn't so severe at your place in terms of the cold

It becomes a bit difficult to run in this way during the winter because the person has to face problems due to the cold, but when a person becomes a routine, then even if it is cold, the person definitely goes for running.

You are doing great
And also hope you have time to take adequate rest after the run as that one is also very important
